How far is the walk from DLH to the park?

We are going to stay at the Residence INN Main Gate and my Dad is complaining about the walk. He said he rather stay at the DLH cause that walk is better. I think they have to be almost the same considering I was in the Wonder Tower last time.

I know I have seen the acutal distance in miles on here before but I have search & search and can't find it. Anyone know or who has better searching skills that I find it?

    TIA

It is .49 miles from the Esplanade to the first tower (use to be Sierra, can't remember the new name) at DLH. It is .68 miles to the entrance of the Residence Inn. So, it is about 1000' further to the Residence Inn. Remember, ART does go to Residence Inn and it isn't a bad route to use.

It is about a 10 minute walk - through Downtown Disney - from DLH to the main gate of DL.

Just looking at the map and seeing where the RI Maingate is compared to the Carousel Inn (where we stayed last time, directly across the street) I'd estimate the RI Maingate to be at least a 15 minute walk. Also, you can take the Monorail from DLH. We didn't use it much because we had strollers and they make you fold them up, but if you're all on foot, it's only a short walk to the monorail from DLH.

I think the wait for the monorail pretty much balances out that extra thousand feet but that's a personal preference.

Are you taking kids? I find that walk through Downtown Disney to be so distracting for occasional visitors that it actually takes longer to walk. "Look at the Lego store! Can I build a bear? I have to put my hands in that fountain." Etc.

Take the ART. Spend $10 on a cab! Or maybe your dad needs a scooter? How will he handle the parks if he can't make the (reasonably) short walk there?

The Grand is closer. Disneyland Hotel not so much. There are other reasons to stay there but I can't argue that distance is one of them.
