Reservation ? about Blue Bayou and DLR hours in Oct...
My DH and I are heading to DLR this October, and want to go to the Blue Bayou we aren't sure for Dinner or Lunch. I am just wondering though, how soon in advance should we call to make a reservation? And at the time of reservation, is that when we request a waterfront table? And do they charge extra or is it just a first come first serve type thing? Also could someone maybe direct me to the number to make reservations?
Also what type of hours does DLR usually have during October? We have never gone this time of year, so everything that happens in the park during this time of year is new to us. We have only gone in the summer craziness. Any suggestions or info would be great. Thanks!
Love me some Disneyland!!!

Make reservations 60 days out.

First come first serve. It is not extra.

Just a note, I was there this past weekend and had first seating reservations at 11:30am. I asked for waterside and was told by the CM that all 11:30 reservations get waterside seating, although I have heard differing stories.
And while this was my first time at BB and the ambiance aside, we enjoyed the meal at Cafe Orleans much better. My wife had the Monte Cristo at both and thought it was better at CO, less greasy. And the Pomme Frites are to die for. Between her and my 10yo son, we finished off two baskets. The gumbo is good as well.

I celebrated my dad's b-day Oct. 2-5th last year. Although there was a lot of people there, due to Miley's Sweet Sixteen b-day bash......I found it to be okay.
I made reservations 60 days in advanced for Saturday the 4th, and was told the same that all 11:30 a.m. reservations receive waterside seating. I prefer to go during the lunch time. It is more relaxing and although I have tried dinner I find that going during lunch makes it more magical. Especially since you walk into a different world.....during lunch at least thats what my little sister and I think.
After dining and eating at Blue Bayou at lunch you seem to leave the chaos and beautiful sky of Disneyland, and enter the dark and wonderful serene Pirates world, and then you come out and find that you are back into the gorgeous Disneyland atmosphere.

Also check the Lunch and Dinner menus. They do serve different food, and I believe the Monte Cristo is only available for lunch, so this may be a factor for you.
God gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

Thank you everyone for your replies! They have really be helpful. I think we will plan on doing lunch, cheaper plus I like what mswong40 said. About it seeming more magical. So we will probably do 11:30.
Anyone have any ideas for park hours? I realize its probably going to reduced hours, we will be in the park Wednesday-Saturday. Thank you everyone for your input!

The best way to guess hours in October at this point would be to look at the hours of previous Octobers - This is a link to the MousePlanet Disneyland Guide Index
The hours vary slightly on Wed - Saturday depending on which part of the month you'll be there. Earlier in the month is Columbus Day and UEA (Which does not literally translate to Utah Escapes to Anaheim but it is a school holiday in Utah during which many families plan trips to Anaheim.)
This link will show you the hours in 2008. If you want to compare them to other years, you can find links on the index page going back several years.

Thanks for that, it does help me figure out what we could be looking at for hours. The question I have now, is, and I know there is really no way to tell for sure til it gets closer, but do they try to follow similar refurbishment schedules every year? Now I am seeing that Pirates went down in 2008 on October 13th. We come into the park on October 21st for our first day. Does it seem this ride and restaurant are more then likely going to be out for our visit? Thanks everyone!

Did you look at the October refurb schedules from 2007 and 2006 to compare? They're all on that same index page.

Okay I did go back and look at the previous years (Thank you for the suggestion) and Pirates was only closed last year from 2006. I'm hoping this is a good sign. This is one of the only rides my DH hasn't been on and he really was looking foward to it!

Be aware of the prices of entrees. You can see menus at this link, that are current as of September, 2008. I had the salmon on a recent trip, and thought it was very good.
