AP birthday gift card [Fun card]

Does it matter what time of day you go to the ticket booth to get the birthday gift card? Someone in our group whos birthday is tomorrow has to work, but can be at DL by 5:00pm and we are hoping they can still get their gift card. Any one know?

Anytime the ticket booths are open on your birth date.

We went last Saturday at 9:30PM, and there was no line. We walked directly up to a ticket window, and was off to the park in about two minutes, just in time for the fireworks that were running late!

Happy Birthday spectromen!! My birthday was Monday too! I got there about 10:30 and got my funcard. Had to wait about 15 minutes. Not too bad. I went in and bought a couple things, then came home to hang out with friends and family.

We ended up doing a long lunch to get the fun card. It was about 11:00am got off the 5 freeway at Disney Way(I think, the street that goes into the mickey and friends parking structure). Anyhow it was packed, cars lined up to get in all the way back to Ball Rd. So we parked in DtD parking. Ran into get the fun card. It was about a 20 min wait at the ticket booths. We also went into DCA, to spend the fun card. lol It wasn't crowded at all. I think people were still trying to park.

The "fun card" is like a gift card right? Any expiration dates on when I have to use it?

PS...how does the fun card look like anyways? Special "Happy Birthday" designs perhaps?

According to the website, the FunCard is worth a 1 day-1 park ticket. It can be used for select merchandise, tour experiences and Photo Pass services
I don't believe it has an expiration date. They lifted the 'must be used
on your birthday' restriction. So your card is worth whatever the celebrant
needs to get into a park, either coast, prices may vary.

We used the fun card that day to buy some posters and pins. It worked just like a gift card, it was easy. Im not sure about how long it last, we spent the whole thing that day. lol

I wonder what "select" merchandise means. Has anyone been turned down for purchasing anything in the park?

And one more question just because I'm curious. If you're an AP and want a gift card for your birthday, but your birthday falls on a blockout day, can you still go to the ticket window and get the card to use later? Or would you need to buy a blockout pass first?

We didn't get turned down for the posters from Off The Page nor the pins from Greetings.

Im not sure about the block out days.

There are locations that are not included in the purchase. Examples would be the silhouette shops, the Crystal shop, the Parasol shop, etc... There is a lit of shops where it won't work.

You need valid admittance to get the Fun Card. To have valid admittance, you would need a block out tix.

I thought that AVP verified that a block-out tix does not qualify, that it needs to be a regular admission ticket or something?

I may be wrong, but I believe it has to be a 3 day hopper or longer or an AP (block out ticket if needed). I had thought that was what Autopia Guy wrote, but I may be wrong.

Being thankful for the gift of time.

Actually the 2fer ticket works. a 2 day hopper or longer works, or a black out ticket works...according to autopia guy

Ok, good to know. Fortunately dh and dd's bday is not a block-out. Mine was, but a block-out ticket wasn't allowed at the time.

From Disney's site (you can't get the gift card if it's a blockout day for you)

Q: What if I'm an Annual Passholder and my birthday falls on a day my Annual Passport is blocked out?

A: If your birthday falls on a day that your Passport is blocked out, you will be able to enjoy your birthday in the park with a free birthday ticket, a 1-Day/1-Park Ticket valid on your birthday. You can also use that ticket to upgrade to a Park Hopper ticket, to renew your Annual Passport, or to upgrade your Annual Passport. However, you are responsible for the incremental cost, and the new, upgraded ticket media may only be used by you.

I was basing my answer on this post by Autopia Guy, who works the ticket counters.

So it sounds like it depends on Disney's decision on the blockout passes at the time, or perhaps which cast member you get. I know I have had people at different windows tell me different things when it came to upgrading a ticket to an AP.

My birthday is fine, but I was wondering because both of my brothers' birthdays fall on block out days (April and September). I guess if nothing else they can put the free ticket toward an upgrade.

How soon can you renew? Can you put the money toward renewal if you're still a few months from expiring?

It has to be within 30 days.
