2nd Dinner Seating ?
When we booked we were assigned the second dinner seating. My girls are 3 and 9. Is that too late for them? What time should we eat lunch? Won't we miss the "Pirate" party if we are eating so late?
Thanks
PS I heard you may be able to switch dinner seatings but that is not guranteed.

You won't miss the pirate party (unless you take a really super long time eating!) because it's after the second dinner seating/second set of shows. And actually, I kind of 'felt' for the kids who had the first dinner seating and the party, because it was really late for them, if the other nights they'd been going to bed shortly after the show.
It really depends on your girls if it's going to be 'too late' for them, and what time you're getting moving in the mornings.
(If you're going on the Wonder - do NOT miss the Toy Story show - the staging (as well as the acting/singing) is very very cool - watch the blocks when you're in Andy's room vs Sid's room)

We are going again in May and we decided to do late dining this time. My kids are a bit older 10, 8 and 5. With the early time we felt we had to rushed to get back on the ship and ready for dinner. If your worried about being hungry before dinner there are many places to grab a snack. Heck, half the time my older two didn't want to dine with us and ate with the other kids in the lab. Had I known this was going to happen I would have done the later seating, feed our little one earlier and put her in the kids club, so my hubby and I could have enjoyed dinner alone.
My little one was four when we cruised and we did have her take naps because there was so much to do at night and I didn't want to miss out or have to deal with a crab.
Oh, as already mentioned don't miss Toy Story. I agree it is amazing. Both my daughter and I loved Sid.
Enjoy your adventure.

We love second seating (we live on the West Coast, so first seating would be like we were eating at 3:30).
We saw a lot of children who had second seating. Plenty of time to do everything, but ditto momof three's comment about having them eat with the Club crew.

We had second seating on our cruise. I would "pre-feed" the kids a substantial snack around 5. There are lots of food options on the pool deck, or you could order room service. A bigger issue for young kids is their ability to sit through a lengthy meal. My younger daughter would get restless, and I missed dessert a couple of times, to take her out of the restaurant, after she had sat for long enough. An option, at least on some evenings, is to enroll the kids in the appropriate kids' club. They will take the kids to a more casual dinner, which they may actually prefer.

It seems too late for us to have dinner after 8. We usually eat dinner around 5. But I am sure that just like at WDW we will be stuffing ourselves at breakfast and can then have lunch around 3. I am also not sure if my 3 year old is going to make it to dinner. We will have to figure out a nap time for her but I know that will be difficult because she doesn't take naps anymore!

We had late seating this year and opted to eat at Topsiders a couple nights as it just was too late for us. We attempted to get switched and it was'nt an option. So we notified our wait staff and did an alternate a couple nights. We were very happy with the food and service in topsiders and would do that again as an option if we were stuck on 2nd seating. Just isn't us....we normally eat at 530 latest and change for a whole week just did'nt work for us.
