I have done a fair bit of searching online, both here and on the search engines and can't really find a definitive answer.
Is there any recommended (i.e. safe to eat at) Sushi bars/restuarants/take outs within a few miles of the DLR?
Prefer the Sushi Train like place where you have a constant range of sushi/sushimi passing by you to tempt your culinary senses.

I don't know of any kaiten sushi bars near Disneyland, but Disney does have its own Japanese restaurant called Yamabuki located inside the Paradise Pier hotel. I haven't been there recently after they did the remodel, but while I found their sushi selection to be limited, I did think the quality of the sushi was quite good. Kaiten sushi places can be hit and miss.

At home here in Sydney there are 5 x Kaiten (conveyer/train/etc) Sushi places within 15 minutes of home, yet I will only eat at 1 of these, with another only good for the occasional take out. I did visit Yamabuki last year and wasnt overly impressed. It was a good meal, but it wasnt what I was looking for. I guess with the Kaiten style there is a load of variety for us fussy eaters.
I used the search terms "sushi boat anaheim, ca" in Google and got a listing from Yelp that looks pretty interesting. Good luck!

I have a Sushi Place near home I like...
Sushi 5 in Tustin, On Newport Avenue, near Interstate 5 (about 8 miles south of Disneyland).
They use RFID chips to track each plate. (They get pulled after the safe limit is passed).
Most plates are $2, plus they have a lot of special order items.
Now, the sushi is good, but not great.
But the two of us can get out usually around $30 for dinner, including Green Tea as our beverage.

Looks like the Yosuki place on Yelp is more a sit down, order off menu place, might check it out if time permits.
Darkbeer, you have just added a meal stop to my itenerary next week. I will have a car so no issue in getting there. If you happen to be down there between the 1st & 4th and you hear some Aussie talking to themself, that will be me.
Yamabuki is one of my favorite restaurants at the Disneyland Resort. We just love it!

I went to Yamabuki in November 2007 and found it to be high priced mediocre food. I got better in the local SF Safeway.
The Safeway, to their credit, had an actual sushi chef making it right there. And he would do special requests if you asked politely. He should be working at Disney. They could use his skills. at Yamabuki.
I'm sorry, but I just can't stomach the idea of supermarket sushi. Unless maybe it was Gelson's or Whole Foods. Maybe.
While this might be too far from Disneyland (15 min. drive), I highly recommend the sushi if you happen to venture further. Good luck!

LOL--my thoughts exactly. I've sampled various sashimi that my brother gave me (he knows a guy who gets his stuff straight from Japan--the stuff he gave my bro was still packed in the container that they were shipped in), and boy the quality/texture/flavor of the sashimi was beyond what I've experienced in many typical run-of-the-mill sushi restaurants.
I love Bennihana's. It is on Ball. Just take Harbor to Ball and then turn right. It is just a few miles down on the right.
There are a couple of places that are decent located around the park. Some are more like fastfood sushi such as San Sai:

I would suggest to go to Yelp.com and search for Sushi in Anaheim 92802, they have great reviewers, and I've found multiple restaurants with great food from that website.
I haven't eaten at that particular San Sai, but I've eaten at another location, and I liked the regular Japanese food from them - good fastfood-type stuff, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to try their sushi.
I'm a fellow sushi snob, and for someone who travels a bit, the San Sai chain is always predictable. Its fresh and good, but nothing extravagant. Its not supermarket sushi or anything pre-made. If you are unable to find anything else around to your taste, than San Sai would be a safe choice. Use the www.yelp.com website and read reviews there, they will give you the best choices and advice available.
Well I went to Sushi 5 as suggested by Darkbeer.
Mental note, do not arrive soon after opening (i.e. have a late lunch).
Everything is made to order, no conveyor train of food for temptation.
However after consuming 2-3 plates several other people had made there way inside and gradually food was being randomly added to the conveyor which provided a good range of variety to choose from.
Overall quality was good, price was very reasonable, I will return.
