BOARDWALK NEWS

Fall is a wonderful time to visit Santa Cruz — the weather is beautiful, the beach is perfect, and there are fewer people around! Within walking distance of the Boardwalk you can catch a surf lesson, jump on a bike or kayak, join a beach volleyball game, or stroll the wharf.

Boardwalk rides are still open on weekends, and the Arcades including mini-golf are open every day.

Need to stay in touch with the office or find a good local restaurant? The Boardwalk is now providing free Wi-Fi!
No password required.

Surf the Internet on the beach while the kids hit the rides! The best reception is on the Boardwalk and beach near the Bandstand. The Boardwalk Bowl also offers free Wi-Fi.

Did you try Marini's chocolate covered bacon yet?
Although it sounds like something Homer Simpson might dream up, lots of people love the salty and sweet combo.

100 Years, Millions of Memories
PBS station KTEH/Channel 54 is airing 60 minutes of the Boardwalk's documentary DVD on Wednesday, September 3rd at 8pm. If you remember the Wild Mouse and the Fun House or just enjoy history, you will love this nostalgic look at the Boardwalk's amazing past. http://www.kteh.org/tv/




Big Kahuna Triathalon - September 7, 2008

Watch racers start with a swim around the wharf then finish the triathalon on the sand in front of the Boardwalk. There's also live Hawaiian entertainment on the bandstand. For more info visit the official Big Kahuna Triathalon website.

Santa Cruz Kite Festival,
Saturday - September 13, 2008

Pro kite fliers from around the country perform on the Main Beach. See sport kite demonstrations, Rokkaku fighter kite battles, choreographed team flying, and more! Bring the kids for a special kite making craft booth! Visit the official Kite Festival website for more information.
