Annual Passport Effective Date

We're planning a trip to Disneyland in October. We generally buy the 3 or 4 day passports but are considering annual passes. If we buy annual passes today are they good for one year from the date of purchase or one year from the date of first admission?

I believe date of first use.

Good from the date of first admission, until then it is bascially a voucher to redeem for an AP, it does not become an offical AP until they take your photo. Be sure to watch for exp dates on the AP's you can purchase at supermarkets and Disney Stores, be sure they do not expire before your trip!

If you are going to purchase passes ,why not purchase 3 day park hoppers and just upgrade them after you use the magic mornings ( getaway todays 3 day hopper has 2 magic mornings adult$169.00 and child $139.00) magic mornings are Sat ,Sun,Tues,Thur.Just a thought Jeff
