Wii Fit
Have one? Want to compare notes?
I'm doing 40-50 minutes per night (except when I don't
) and not seeing much progress yet, though we haven't had it very long. I go through all the exercises in the first three categories (Yoga, Strength, Aerobics) in menu order, so as new activities are unlocked my total time gets longer.
Notes:
I hate push-ups. I've hated them since I was in the Army and that hasn't changed.
I'm not at all talented at Hula Hoop.
What are the actual distances in the running activity, and what is the ideal speed?

I didn't mean to flaunt.
Come on, Nintendo shipped 500,000 to the US. I'm sure someone else here has one.

I'm very tempted to get this when I return to the US. I seem to recall there are some activities to help improve balance? What kind of customization is there for different levels of skill and/or different interests?

I have a WiiFit. My weight fluctuates, but that is because my eating habits do the same. I have lost and I have gained. I LOVE the hula hoop and aerobics. I do ok with the balance games. I also like the slalom. I have the fastest score for the beginner and advanced. The jump one, well, let's say I can barely get on the board with the scores that my daughter and dad have. I like the competition thing that it creates, but at the same time I hate it when the kids fight over who does what better.
I need to start doing it every night again. I have been busy with other activities, so the WiiFit has been a little neglected. I try to do the body test daily.

has anyone tried the ultimate balance test? click on your mii on the treadmill on the statistics (I think) screen to bring it up. I haven't been able to complete that test yet. it requires perfect balance that I don't have.

I can do the first two in three seconds each, and take the remaining 54 seconds trying to align both sides to the impossibly tiny blue zone. I don't think it's possible to stay that still for three seconds!

No, but I managed to do it for two twice!

And so much for that. Turns out the stores were told to "hold" their inventory for an ad that ran today (not a discount, just an ad), and so they wouldn't let Tony buy one Friday. Went to the big Greatland store in our area this morning and there was a huge line outside, so we decided to go back to the smaller, off-the-beaten-path Target closer to our house on the chance that nobody would remember it. Good planning on our part, except OUR Target didn't get their shipment last night (the truck inexplicably didn't show up), and they didn't have any to sell. So while we were the first people in the store, we still didn't get one. The only suggestion the clerk could make was to "try tomorrow." We asked the manager on duty if they could call a store that DID have them and put one on hold, and she said "sorry, first-come, first-served."
Um, we were first. You wouldn't let us buy them when you did have them in stock because you had to wait for the ad, now the ad has run and you're mysteriously out of stock AT OPENING?
This is what they call a "guest recovery" sitation, and it's NOT at ALL out of line to ask you to call another store and have them put a unit on hold to accomodate a customer who has been inconvenienced because your store didn't get the inventory you were supposed to have to support a state-wide ad.
Oh, wait, I get it - the fitness part comes from running all over town trying to BUY one.

After another trip to Target, another outright lie from their sales clerks (we had them in stock yesterday but we sold them all), an e-mail to Target.com and a 30-minute phone call with their "guest relations" department (now I understand why it's not longer called "customer service," because they don't provide any), we finally bought a Wii Fit.
From BestBuy.com
Thanks to wiialerts.com
This is a nifty little Web site! We subscribed yesterday, and they sent Tony a text message this morning that BB.c had added inventory to their Web site. They sold out in under 4 minutes, but we got one!

Thanks for the website. I hope we can find my dad a WiiFit, he has been trying all over the city!

It's my understanding that your entire fitness is taken into account and that is reflected in your score. Do you get dinged for gaining weight? First, I'm preggers, gaining weight is a given at some point. Second, when I actually get serious about working out I gain muscle weight quickly but loose inches. I get discouraged by low scores and numbers can really mess with my head fast. We haven't gotten the game but plan to soon if I really think I'll play it (not a video game person at all).

At the Alameda County Fair, Nintendo had a couple of booths where you could try out the Fit to see if you liked it. They weren't selling any there, of course, but if you can find somewhere that's demo-ing it, you might be able to see if you want to buy it.
I've now unlocked all of the Yoga, Strength and Aerobics activities, so my time is now in the 1:00 to 1:10 range per night.

Wii Fit
Aloha - I was just wondering what is the going price for the Wii Fit? We can't seem to get any in our stores. I've been told we get about 3 in a week at the GameStop but they won't hold (even if prepaid). You have to be there when it arrives.... Since I work this is not possible plus even on my days off I don't want to sit at the store all day in hopes it will arrive in the shipment.
Okay, sorry for venting about my problems but the reason I'm asking is I've been checking ebay and it seems to run about $200 is that right? The store here won't quote it since it's not in stock.
Thanks for your help.
Disneyland here I come July 31-Aug 6, 2010!!!

A friend of mine picked hers up at crack thirty this morning from Best Buy. Paid $89. Yeah, it's looking a lot better now.

MSRP is $90, most stores charge $89.99 or so.

Sweet! Ours will be here tomorrow.
For anyone who is looking, I HIGHLY recommend wiialerts.com. You register with them and they send you an e-mail and/or text message when an online retailer has them available. You'll get a lot of false alarms, especially when stores get 4 units and the Web site sends an alert to 10,000 people, but several people I know have sucessfully used the site to order Wii items in the last week.

Anxious to hear how you like it. I didn't a chance to try my nephew's over 4th of July - but I DID finally make it all the way through a song on Guitar Hero!

We (I) move the coffee table out of the way every time. It's pretty heavy, so it's like a little warmup exercise.
(Still looking for Mario Kart Wii)
