Save the Date: Fall 2008 MouseAdventure 11/16/2008
Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know that the Fall 2008 MouseAdventure Mystery will be Sunday, November 16th at the Disneyland Resort.
We were fortunate that Disney was willing to lock in a date for us this early in advance, and we wanted to get the date out there as soon as possible because we know the event is very close to a holiday.
That is all the information we have to release at this time. Additional details about format, cost, theme park, times, registration, etc, etc, etc will be released MUCH later - look for additional info sometime in July.

This ROCKS!!! Yay to DLR for locking in a date and thank you AVP!!!
I'm taking a two week+ trip in Oct.; I was so afraid I was going to miss. I'm VERY excited!
Was Disney just being nice... or should I attribute the early lock-in date to your awesome negotiation skills, AVP?

We had two dates in mind and they were willing to release this one because they did not expect it to be a high-demand weekend. I thought it better to be able to lock in this date now than wait until 90 days before the event and discover neither date was available.

Okay, I'm really going to do it this year... I have a feeling the words "crunch time" will be back in my vocabulary then, but I really want to do this.
How do I go about convincing my loved ones that this is something we should do?

Well what objections would they have?
"We don't like having fun"
"We don't like going to Disneyland"
"We don't like games"
If it's any of those, I have no answers.
If it's "We don't want you to force us to wear matching shirts" promise them that they won't have to and just remember that Mr. Shna didn't want to the first time but he came back this go-around with a 3-person team wearing cute matching t-shirts.

Well, first I'll have to choose between DH and Mom.
DH isn't competitive but loves random trivia. He doesn't like long days on his feet but it might be what he (we) needs to get in shape like we've been trying to do. He's not a Disney fan like I am but might do it because it would be just us and we're always looking for something just the two of us can do together.
Mom is competitive and loves useless information. She could be great at this, but she is know for her strong opinions and a "my way or no way" take on everything. I read through the recap from Spring MA and I could see a lot of bickering between her and I on little things like "well if you insist that there's that many oil cans I must be wrong, I'll shut up now"! But she can and will keep me going through the whole thing, never saying a word about giving in!
My bro and his gf might be interested in it, and they have their own pros and cons to consider, but I'd be paying not only for our team fees, but their park admission as well

ok, so i want to do this for the first time. i saw that for the spring MA they had a special game at DCA for first timers. if they have that again, would first timers have to do that one, or can we join in with all the old timers? i know we wouldn't have a chance of winning, but i'd love to do it anyways. ok, long random question over...any insight?

Can I ask why you would go against the recommendation? And I'm not being snarky, I'm serious. Because if we made the recommendation but you're all ready to ignore it, I'm going to assume that you think you have a reason to.
One piece of feedback we received from the latest game was from a team who did this very thing. Normally I would never post something like this but in this case, the person who filled out the survey specifically said to. They were a first time team but signed up for the basic game anyway. The feedback was "We should've put our egos aside and listened to you. Please keep encouraging new teams to play the newcomers game." That was slightly paraphrased but the "egos aside" part was verbatim.
The insight is: We STRONGLY encourage first time teams to play the most basic game available for a really good reason, LOL. We realize it's your first time playing but we've been putting this on for almost a decade now. We've received LOTS of feedback from teams and in order to make it challenging enough for return teams, the game has only gotten harder and more confusing to new teams. It's a trade-off.
Honestly, the Fall event is still in the early planning stages and it's MUCH to early to announce what categories we will have. But whatever we do, we're not making these recommendations to limit you unfairly or to be control freaks. It's based on a lot of experience, not just ours but the teams that have competed.
The worst thing that happens if the most basic category is way too easy is that you win. The worst thing that happens if the "We recommend this category for returning teams" is too hard is that you have a miserable time. And yes, we've had teams come tell us "Why did you let us play? This was way too hard for our first time!" and the only thing we can do is look at them and say "Uhm, we tried to warn you."

adrienne,
your response was what i was looking for. i had never heard of MA until about 2 months ago and i think it sounds like a lot of fun. i don't know much of the detail and intricacy of it all. i don't mind doing the beginner's course/game, i was just a little sad that it was only in DCA instead of in Disneyland itself. i've considered just buying the course they have from a previous game to just do for fun, since that's what it would be. we have a toddler and would just be doing it for the fun of it. thanks for being candid about it

lol, i'm here for a matter of hours and i'm trying to get secrets out of you.
thanks for your help. i'm glad you responded so quickly and helped me figure it out a bit more in my head. i'll definitely be looking out for more details and we'll probably do the beginner's game...can't wait!!

This is great news for me and my friend who's getting married this October. We were worried her wedding would become an MA conflict. It's not!! So barring any other conflict, we'll be back!
