I was looking through this forum and there wasn't much mention of Old Key West Resort. The last main thread about it was dated more than a year ago and is locked now.

This thread will probably be rambling thoughts and questions since I'm so excited I can't think straight. This will be my first time staying on property at WDW (we'll be staying off property the week before)

I'm excited I was able to do a timeshare trade in to a DVC for this December 13-20th in to a 1 bedroom room. It will be myself and my friend, Marilynn, 60ish, (her 27yo daughter may join us for part of the trip) I've been told once I have final confirmation from RCI to call Disney to see about trying to get the Dining Plan. Has anyone done before.

Is the resort decorated for the holidays?

My 46th birthday is in December and I was thinking of ordering something for the room or for check-in just for the fun of it. Yes I'm a big kid at heart. I know there is someplace on the website I'll have to look once I have been in touch with Disney.

What do you like about the resort? Any recommendations for things to do at OKW and things to do while staying on property.

I'd love to know what everyone thinks of the resort.

Carolyn

Hey gang,

Looks like I'm heading to the BoardWalk Inn this September. We've never stayed there before. I'm getting a little confused. From what I can tell, MOST of the rooms have balconies, but not all of them. Is that accurate?

We're getting a pretty good price for a Standard View room. ($252 per night) I'd prefer not looking out at the front of the hotel and the main entrance. I also don't know if I want to spring for the water view. So the question is:

Are there Standard View category rooms with balconies looking at the courtyard, garden, quiet pool area?
