We have a teacher in service day 11/1 and I'd like to take advantage of the kids being out of school. Halloween is on Thursday this year. DW is having a party Friday night, 11/1, but no announcement yet for DL that I could find.

We went two years ago on a Thursday in mid-October, and it was packed, so now I'm wary. Last year we went early January, and it was surprisingly busy (which may have been in part due to the opening of Carsland). We also missed the old 2fer - gone for good? I understand that it can be croweded with locals that Sat. at DL due to parade filming, but we would plan to be at CA that day. Would be a bit of a bummer if Space Mountain is closed the whole time for Halloween takedown, but not a deal-breaker.

Does anyone one know if DL typically runs Fantasmic in the Fall (specifically the end of Sept.)? I'm thinking it would just be weekends if they do. I am trying to plan our trip so that we can see Famtasmic, but if not typically shown in the Fall, then I'd rather not be there on the weekend. What about Fireworks show? Also World of Color is every night, weather permitting, right?

Is there an age limit on SR lines? My daughter is 14 and I want to use SR for some rides on our up coming trip. Most likely RSR and Indy. Had anyone gotten lucky enough to use SR but still rode with the person they are waiting with?

Well, we keep running into issues with the hotel and turns out changing the week we go to accommodate our addition's school schedule put a couple nights at resort hotels out of our budget, so we're looking for a cheaper alternative that still has a good pool area. HoJo seems to be the obvious replacement (though other suggestions would be welcome), but will they have the full pool experience still in the middle of winter?

Just wondering what opinions are about the trick or treating event at Disneyland. I've heard a few grumbles about the park being pretty crowded for the extra $ you pay to get in. Friends I know who have teenagers didn't really think it was worth the extra $. They didn't really care too much about the trick or treating or characters. I think they were hoping for shorter lines for rides since the park is only open to people who purchase the trick or treating admission ticket. They said lines were still pretty long. My kids are going to be 6 and 8 when we go and I'm wondering if the Halloween "extras" would make it worth it to go for their ages?

Hello! What's the best time to book the resorts for first week of December? Do they offer specials closer to the date or should I just go ahead and book ASAP?

Is there really a huge difference as far as walking distance between DLH and GC? I've read GC is closer, but depends on the room. I have also read that DLH isn't that bad of a walk (especially if we have a stroller, little one should be ok).
Planning this trip is harder than I thought! I just want it to be perfect since it will be our first family vacation.
We're going the first week of December, so I'm unsure of the crowds.

Hello! My husband and I will be taking our son to Disneyland for the first time in December (1st week).

We have decided to splurge and go for a Disney resort hotel.

I can't for the life of me decide if we should stay at GC or DLH.

Is the walk from DLH to the parks really farther (we'll have a stroller).

I love the look of the remodel for DLH and was thinking of doing concierge room.
But then I've read that GC is way closer and much more "luxury". If we stay here, it would probably be a standard room.
We want to be able to go back to the room to let our little one nap. We'd also like a good view of the parks/fireworks.
Any suggestions/ideas/tips?

DH is jonesing to make our next trip to DL a little special. He would like to skip the Super Shuttle and have our own driver take us from the airport to the hotel. He invisions a driver standing near our arrival gate or luggage area holding a sign with DH's name on it. ;) Could you please share some recommendations and experiences with the services you've used? The only tip I know about, is to ask the driver if he will let us pick up some groceries on the way in.

Wondering if this is still in practice? AllEars has Minnie's at 23.99/11.99. Anyone know is this is accurate of as today? Their menu date was 2/13.

We will have a Disney vacation next summer, and we are saving our pennies to stay in the resort hotels. We will have a 9 year old and almost 5 year old at the time. They love pools and are starting to like water slides. Can you describe some of your experiences with the different hotel pools and what their water slides are like?

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that AirTran is having an airfare sale for $98 round trip to select destinations. I did notice that they had San Francisco to Orange County for $98. Las Vegas to OC for $98.

Ok I know the gates open about 30 minutes before the rope drop to let people on main street or in to the entrance of CA adventure. However when dose the parking area open? All help would be great thank you

I am considering buying 2, 5 day Adult Park Hopper passes from Get Away Today as that appears to be $30 cheaper than using the Disneyland site.
I have never used GAT before and would appreciate any feedback that you might wish to share. :)
My vacation is from 11/1 - 11/9 so I would also purchase their $10 ticket insurance just in case something comes up. So that would change my savings to just $20.
DH and I are fortunate in that $20 is not going to make or break our trip. Do you have any extra steps or perhaps aggrevations when using GAT tickets instead of the online DL tickets?
Again, any info on how you redeem these tickets, etc. would be so greatly appreciated.

Wondering what are some favorite places for dessert in either DL or DCA???

In 2012 Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles said they were going in a couple blocks from Disneyland. Their website still doesn't have an address. Has their website just not been updated, or are there really no Chicken and Waffles by Disneyland?

Headed to DL in 11 days with my two daughters (16 & 9) and my MIL who is 50-something. It will be her very first time going to any theme park. While I am super happy she's coming with us and I am excited to share the Disney Magic with her, I am also quite apprehensive.
I've been to DL several times and know how I like to 'do' the Park. I am an over-planner to a fault and like to keep a nice pace. However, this will be my first time going in summer (always gone in spring in the past) and also my first time visiting Carsland. I keep reading all these posts about how to ride and/or get a FP for RSR and how long the wait is, and I'm also going on the final three Grad Nites so I'm anticipating hoards of teenagers. So the closer trip time comes, the more nervous and anxious I feel!!
MIL is a self-admitted slowpoke and a smoker. So I know trying to accommodate her pace and stop when she needs to smoke is going to drive me bonkers. ANY advice or comforting words of wisdom to help with summer/riding RSR/Grad Nite/slow-ole-lady would be so very appreciated!!! I just need to feel like I can DO this and wear that happy, silly Disney grin that I usually have on LOL.

The newest review on the Sheraton Park under the Users Review section on MP is from 2010. Has anyone stayed here more recently? If so, would you recommend it?

We just went on our annual family trip to DL a month+ ago. My husband has to head back to Anaheim again for work in a couple weeks, and we made the last minute decision for me to tag along. We are lucky enough to have both sets of grandparents willing to split 6 nights staying with our little guys so I can get away and have some down time.

We want to stick with a hotel that has the Federal Govt per diem rate so it will be covered by work (since we just spent a LOAD of money at DLR recently). I want a place with a nice pool, where I can lounge during the days while my husband works. The pool at the Sheraton Park looks nice, and I've read some good reviews. Looks a bit bigger than some other hotel pools in area - and it serves poolside drinks!

Would love to hear any feedback about this property! Thanks!

Oh, and I will be sneaking in a day or two at the parks by myself (unbeknownst to my kiddos yet)! :-)

We are staying at GCH in 3 weeks. Occasionally we splurge and stay on a Disney property, but at the cheapest room available. I've heard of people getting complinetry room upgrades and would love to get one as well. Can you just ask for one? Also, does it make a difference if you are staying on an AP rate? Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

We rarely eat breakfast in the parks, but for our trip this weekend (our last before our APs expire)-- I'd like to get a Mickey waffle. I know these are available at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street-- without digging through all the menu pages, anywhere else they are available? And is a reservation necessary for breakfast? Thanks!
