Reservation for none...?

Rate this Entry
Hey marathoners! Have you been to the runDisney site to confirm your registration for the 2013 WDW Marathon yet? If you haven't may I recommend you do so ASAP before the race sells out?

I've received emails from a few MP runDisney event friends who received a nasty surprise when their confirmation inquiry returned the message "We could not find a registration with the email address [ ] for 2013 Walt Disney World® Marathon" yet they have payment receipts and confirmation emails from Active.com. Both runDisney and Active.com support have been contacted and we'll hopefully have a happy ending for all very soon.

In the meantime, make sure YOUR registration is confirmed today!

I got the same message just a few minutes ago. I'm not going to worry about it right now, but I did send a message off to active.com to ask if there is an issue with their system.

I was curious so I contacted Active.com myself. The agent I spoke with made it abundantly clear that this was not an Active.com issue and that I needed call runDisney customer support. After speaking to an absolutely wonderful and delightful runDisney customer service agent (would we expect anything less from Disney...?), here's the scoop. The confirmation message could be caused by one of two things.

Imputing your information incorrectly (i.e., your email address) could throw a false confirmation since you can't be found in the system. runDisney can easily fix that for you.

If you registered as part of a special promotion (such as the Disney Visa offer), the company that ran the promotion may not have yet download those registrations into the runDisney confirmation system. This, of course, would cause the "we have no record" message. If you do not have a copy of your registration receipt, I understand runDisney agents are able to track receipts and will be kind enough to confirm you are registered as well as send a new receipt vie fax or email.

This little exercise does prove what I've recommended to fellow race participants for years is correct: always, always, always check before you leave (if possible) AND bring a printed copy of your registration confirmation to packet pickup with you as well as any other receipts for commemorative merchandise, race retreats, etc you may have ordered. If something happens to the run database or you get onsite and find you're not showing up in the system, having that printed information on board can help turn a potentially really sad experience into a magical one.
