2013 Tinker Bell Half Marathon – Registration opened June 12, 2012
On June 25th, fourteen days (!) from the opening of registration, capacity for the 2013 Tinker Bell Half Marathon has already reached 72%. To put it into perspective, it took the inaugural 2012 Tinker Bell Half Marathon 3 months, 7 days to reach 73%. At this pace, Tinker may even beat the blazing record of 1 month, 2 days sell-out set by the 2012 Disneyland Half! Looks like the race is on to earn that fairy wing medal.

2012 event sellout time to beat: 4 months

2013 Never Land 5k – Registration opened June 12, 2012
Unlike its co-headline event, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, the 2013 Never Land 5k may prove to be a tough sell. Even with a lower price than in 2012, the move to Saturday morning from Friday night as well as a 5:45 a.m. start time may have an interesting impact on registration numbers. It was a slow sell in 2012 closing just a week before the event. Given the changes, I would be surprised if 2013 moves any quicker.

2013 Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge – Registration opened April 10, 2012
As of June 25th, runDisney reported Goofy reached 83% capacity in 2 months, 16 days. Registration is moving much faster than in 2011 when it took 3 months, 16 days for the 2012 event to hit 80%.

2012 event sellout time to beat: 9 months, 5 days

2013 Walt Disney World Half Marathon – Registration opened April 10, 2012
On June 25th, just five days from the first price increase (and 2 months, 16 days from registration opening), runDisney reported another uptick in WDW Half Marathon registration with capacity at 57%. Interestingly, this is still faster than the 15th anniversary 2012 event was tracking at this stage when it took 3 months, 16 days to reach 50%.

2013 Walt Disney World Marathon – Registration opened April 10, 2012
As of June 25th, the final timed race in the WDW Marathon weekend trifecta is currently at 64% registration capacity. Again, registration numbers are moving along faster than in 2012 even without the return of the Chip n Dale Marathon Relay. Looks like business is currently booming at runDisney!

2013 Disney Family Fun Run 5k (WDW) – Registration opened April 10, 2012
It’s just for fun and the medal is made of rubber but there is no better way to start the WDW Marathon Weekend than with the Disney Family Fun Run 5k. Last year, the Three Caballeros were there to kick off the event; it will be interesting to see who has the honor this year. Oswald perhaps? Any guesses? As of June 25th, there are no registration numbers to report.

2012 event sellout time to beat: 9 months, 8 days

2012 Wine & Dine Half Marathon – Registration opened 3/13/2012
With a move to November and all the excitement over the new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler moving in its September place, there was a good chance that the 2012 Wine & Dine Half Marathon could have been lost in the crowd. Surprisingly, the thought of running in cooler November weather must have won out and registration for the 2013 Wine & Dine is currently at 80% capacity which is just a tad slower than in 2011. It’s important to note that there is no Half Marathon Relay this year which may also have an impact on the numbers.

2012 event sellout time to beat: 3 months, 28 days (the Relay sold out in 4 months, 17 days)

2012 Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5k – Registration opened 3/13/2012
Given that the 5k is held the morning of the nighttime Wine & Dine Half Marathon, it’s not a surprise that the event takes longer to sellout as many of the “let’s run all the weekend event” people may shy away from two runs within the same day. While it makes for a very long day, I have to say it’s a fun way to start the weekend and who doesn’t enjoy running through Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the early morning? As of June 25th, there is still no movement to report on registration.

2012 event sellout time to beat: 6 months, 17 days

2012 Disney’s Happy Haunted 5k Trail Run – Registration opened 2/14/2012
As the lead-in to the inaugural 2012 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler weekend, here’s another 5k that may take awhile to fill but still should be a fun way to start the festivities. A trail run is a new theme for runDisney and it sounds like it’s a few steps up from a standard 5k but is several steps below the Everest Challenge 5k Adventure race. Can’t wait to see how runDisney turns the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex into a trail run. As of June 20th, registration for the event was at 56% capacity.

And that’s all for this week. Check back with us again for another By the Numbers Update!
