Kingdom Tower - So Now Can We Call It Official?

Rate this Entry
Now that the Orlando Sentinel has found a filing indicating that Disney has received approval to start selling units there, can we now officially say that the new building next to the Contemporary is a DVC resort?

I first reported the intent back in late 2005, before the target moved and moved again before getting more confirmation in mid-2006, with official paperwork for the construction compound being discovered later in 2006 and paperwork on the resort itself being found in early 2007.

It's an exciting new prospect for the DVC, though it's likely that Disney won't begin selling it until most of Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Villas are sold. After all, AKV is supposed to be a marquee property, not one to have its remaining inventory sold off at a steep discount as was done with Hilton Head and Vero Beach.

I'll do a little digging and I'll have continuing coverage as the story develops.

Disney PR person: Building next to the Contemporary? What building next to the Contemporary? I don't see any building over there, and it's certainly not going to be a DVC resort, no sirree Bob...
