Waterpark Coming to Disneyland Area

Rate this Entry
Disney’s off-again/off-again plans to build a waterpark near Disneyland are about to get some competition. Construction has begun on a Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark resort a mile south down of Disney’s proposed site on Harbor Boulevard.

Located near the intersection of Harbor and Lampson Avenue in Garden Grove, it will be Great Wolf Lodge’s first California location and 13th overall when it opens in early 2016. It will include a 328,000-sq. ft., 12-story, 600-room high-rise concrete-frame hotel and a 130,000-sq. ft. indoor/outdoor waterpark.

The waterpark, however, won’t be direct competition to any waterpark Disney might build since it will be open only to guests staying at the lodge.

I like the idea of 600 new rooms to fill. I think Great Wolf will compete more for the HoJo crowds than Disney, based off their waterparks and other games/activities for the kids.
