Disneyland to Open a Pharmacy

For the first time since Upjohn vacated Main Street in 1970, Disneyland is getting its own pharmacy.
The old Upjohn Pharmacy, which opened in 1955, was themed as a turn-of-the-century retail store, but it was just for show; guests couldn’t buy medicine or fill a prescription (although the clerks did hand out free vitamins).
For a very different reason, guests won’t be able to frequent the new pharmacy—since it will be located backstage and serve cast members only.
The pharmacy will open next year as part of the new Cast Health facility, which itself was unveiled January 6.
The facility is larger than the previous cast member first aid station and in time will get its own X-ray machine. One downside: the new facility is located on the second story, above Cash Control, so is typically accessed by elevator—one which broke down not long after its first trips, forcing first aid’s ailing visitors to take to the stairs.
