  1. Farewell, VMK

A few hours ago I read the news that Disney has decided to close the Virtual Magic Kingdom game, a FREE! (and that word will become important later) online multiplayer game created around the time of Disneyland's 50th Anniversary and "designed for 8-14 year olds."

Thinking this must be a late April Fool's joke, I quickly checked the VMK home page and yes, there it was, the official word right from Yavn's mouth. (Yavn is the screen name for one of the VMK producers, a nice guy I've ...

Once upon a time there was a beautiful castle in a magical kingdom. From the outset, the protest was designed to end with the arrest of as many as 30 people whom the union termed "worker leaders, community leaders and clergy." No Disneyland Resort Cast Members were arrested; the union said that the decision against including ...

  4. Coming soon to Disneyland - Monthly Payment Annual Passes

Though everyone is talking about the official announcement of the 2009 "What Will You Celebrate" marketing campaign, the Disneyland Resort quietly announced another new program to cast members today.

Starting this fall, Disneyland Resort passholders will be offered the opportunity to fiance their Annual Passports over 12 months. Passholders will make a deposit equal to the cost of a one-day, one-park ticket, then pay the balance over 12 months. Payments will be automatically charged ...

  5. Disneyland's new Holiday tradition: the Annual Candlelight ticket sales fiasco

After Disneyland borrowed the concept of a Candlelight Dining Package from Walt Disney World, I wrote of the 2003 offering "Those visitors who did book the dinner package reported hassles with their meal and crowd control challenges at the theater. Despite these issues, it looked like Disneyland had the foundation for a successful Candlelight program. With a few tweaks, everyone would know what to expect, and the event should run smoothly."

Unfortunately the communication and registration ...
