Walt Disney Imagineering

The magic-makers

  1. Imagineering's World Science Festival presentation may not be the last

Walt Disney Imagineering is aware that many have been asking for a presentation like "The Science of Imagineering" that was given at the World Science Festival, and they are in discussions with the WSF about other similar opportunities. If you'd like to add your voice to the requests for them to "take the show on the road," as it were, you can send your letters to:

  2. Imagineering outsourcing manufacture of basic Animatronics

With more firms developing the capability of creating Animatronic figures, Walt Disney Imagineering has decided to outsource the creation of simpler Animatronics to allow the Imagineers to concentrate on some of the more complex figures.

According to Imagineering spokeswoman Marilyn Waters:
In terms of the Audio-Animatronics figures, the very simple figures will be built by a specialized vendor pool going forward. We will continue to develop the next-generation figures (ex:

  3. Toy Story Mania NOT in soft opening status

  4. Research trip's off to a booming start

    What a day!

After getting in to the Orlando, I raced to get my car, check in, and head to the Studios. Once there, I was taken behind the shrub barrier, met Imagineers Kevin Rafferty and Sue Bryan and then got to try out Toy Story Midway Mania! (apparently, the official name of the attraction on both coasts is Toy Story Midway Mania!, but the marketing department uses Toy Story Mania! because it's shorter and easier to spoon-feed to the public) in between Imagineering taking shots ...
  5. Shareholder meeting - Later in the year?

At the shareholder meeting, after talking about the opening of Toy Story Mania at Disney's California Adventure, Disney CEO Bob Iger just said that the attraction will also open in Orlando "later in the year." Later in the year? I thought that they were supposed to open at the same time? Or is everything relative and "the same year" is close enough for "at the same time"?

Aside from that, nothing out of the ordinary at the meeting, except for the fact that they've done very little ...
