Mark My Words

Breaking news and opinions from MousePlanet writer, editor and podcaster Mark Goldhaber.

  1. Major discounts to be released tonight

I've been told by reliable sources that there will be a MAJOR discount deal released for Walt Disney World (and possibly Disneyland) following Disney's quarterly earnings call this evening. Reservations cast members have been trained in all aspects of the deal and it's ready to roll out. While the details of the deal haven't leaked out yet, we have been told that it's going to be a big one, with either free nights (stay x nights, get y nights free) or some other major incentive.

  2. Two Epcot acts are no more

Two live entertainment acts are no more, victims of last-minute budget cuts.

Orisi Risi and Spelmann's Gledje have ceased performances at the park. I was particularly disappointed at the departure of Orisi Risi, as I had hoped to interview them for the MouseStation Podcast to help raise their profile and bring more people to their shows.

DVC members get first crack at Bay Lake Tower, starting September 21, while the Treehouse Villas will become available at a later date.

While all participating communities are contributing and some (like MousePlanet) are providing underwriting sponsorships, it's still not enough to cover all of the costs of the event.

That's why the MouseFest Organizing Committee is asking all ...

  5. Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is one step closer

While doing my weekly check of the Orange County Comptroller's site, I happened to come across the latest paperwork for that round building next to Disney's Contemporary Resort that still hasn't been officially confirmed (by Disney, at least) as the next DVC resort on the Walt Disney World property. The paperwork is for Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, a Leasehold Condominium. The paperwork also says that Bay Lake Tower will be run by the Disney Vacation Club Management Company. ...
