Real life

The stuff outside of the MousePlanet/Disney universe.

  1. Research trip's off to a booming start

    What a day!

After getting in to the Orlando, I raced to get my car, check in, and head to the Studios. Once there, I was taken behind the shrub barrier, met Imagineers Kevin Rafferty and Sue Bryan and then got to try out Toy Story Midway Mania! (apparently, the official name of the attraction on both coasts is Toy Story Midway Mania!, but the marketing department uses Toy Story Mania! because it's shorter and easier to spoon-feed to the public) in between Imagineering taking shots ...
  2. Good news - Jim Korkis on the mend

Greg Ehrbar was kind enough to pass along a note from Jim Korkis, the beloved Disney historian who recently suffered a stroke last month and was incapacitated for a while.

Jim is back at work and slowly mending. He's doing his best to avoid stress, since that's what triggered the stroke, so we'll see how that pans out. He's still a bit unsteady, so keep thinking good thoughts for him. Pray for his health, if that's something that you do.

  4. Where does the time go?

Geez, has it been over a week since my last blog post? I was going to keep this thing updated several times a week.

The problem here is that, for the last week or so, I've been actively trying to have some semblance of a life. Between writing the Park Updates; writing, recording, and publishing the podcast and show notes; creating random other features (see Friday's Animal Kingdom Villas photo tour) and various and sundry other MousePlanet stuff -- not to mention The Job That Pays ...
  5. Yet another late night

So here I am, at 2:30 a.m., waiting for the podcast file to upload from Steven, our audio engineer and sound editor. Once it's up, I can download it, make some minor changes, make final adjustments to control files and then upload and publish the podcast and the front page for the site.

I've got a 9:30 a.m. meeting with another state agency, and I have to try to be sharp for it. This is one of those nights that it sucks to be doing the podcast.

    Hey, the file's done ...
