  1. Dopey Challenge Training - Week Eight

We’re already up to week eight of Hal Higdon’s Dopey Challenge training program and it’s time to drop the distance. You will notice that the longest run this week is ten miles which is a significant drop from last week’s 16 miler on Sunday. These step-back weeks are as important to the training program as the distance weeks as they allow your body to more easily adjust to increases in the weekly mileage by giving your body a chance to rest and to heal from all the long hours on the road. Generally ...
  2. Dopey Challenge Training - Week Seven

"Hills. We love them. We hate them. They make us strong. They make us weak. Today I chose to embrace hills." - Hal Higdon, running writer and coach

Ah, San Francisco. Home of the Golden Gate Bridge. Football’s 49-niners. Foggy weather. And of course, more hills than any city should legally be allowed to have. 4. Dopey Challenge Training - Week Two

“Remember that failure is part of the process of successful running. Performance is a roller coaster; to think otherwise is irrational and will cause you much stress and discouragement. Lighten up on yourself. Ups and downs can be expected. The performance of most serious runners fluctuates by the week. You win some, you lose some; some days you’re hot, some days you’re not. Don’t fight with yourself when failure, the teacher, pays an unexpected visit. Open up to learning from it.”

  5. Dopey Challenge Training - Week One

Welcome to Week One of the Dopey Challenge training program! Some of you may have followed my blog last year as I prepped for my ‘one and done’ full marathon at WDW by following Hal Higdon’s marathon training program. While my training literally came to a crashing halt at the 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler thanks to an errant speed bump, I slowly but successfully completed the 2014 WDW Marathon and happily ‘retired’ from the full distance with my goal met. One and done lasted until runDisney announced ...
