  1. Posting race bibs on social media

As we enjoy the WDW Marathon weekend and look forward to all the upcoming races in 2015, keep in mind that posting a picture of your race bib (with name and number legible) on social media sites prior to the race is an open invitation for a race bandit to print out the bib and run for free under your name. Yup. For free. And you paid how much to run that race?

As we have seen in recent media stories, this type of activity is becoming more common with the advent of more sophisticated ...
  2. So what if you finish last...

As many of us are gearing up to head out to Disneyland for this weekend's Dumbo Double Dare, Disneyland Half Marathon and other scheduled events, one little thing always sticks in the back of my mind. What if I finish last?

Even though I've trained for this event, the training has been spotty at best given work and travel demands. Not an excuse per say but just a fact that I'm staring at 22.4 miles (5k, 10k, and half marathon) on probably less than optimal training. The hamstring ...
  3. Dumbo Double Dare Training - Week Eleven

"Running is 80 percent mental." --Joan Benoit Samuelson

Over the past ten weeks, we’ve focused a lot on the physical side of completing a runDisney distance event but it’s just as important (maybe even more so) to spend time addressing the mental part of running / walking as well. 4. Dumbo Double Dare Training - Week Four

“Pain is nothing compared to what it feels like to quit.” ~ Author unknown

As a long-time runner, I’ve been fortunate. I can count on one hand the running-related injuries that I’ve dealt with over the years. The trailer hitch that took me out of running for a year when I smashed my knee ‘head on’ into it at full speed (note to self – don’t run in the dark). The speed bump from the inaugural Tower of Terror 10 Miler that took out both knees, one hand, and a camera (see note above ...
  5. Dumbo Double Dare Training - Week Three

"Even if there were two of me, I still couldn't do all that has to be done. No matter what, though, I keep up my running. Running every day is a kind of lifeline for me, so I'm not going to lay off or quit just because I’m busy. If I used being busy as an excuse not to run, I'd never run again. I have only a few reasons to keep on running, and a truckload of them to quit. All I can do is keep those few reasons nicely polished." - Haruki Murakami, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running ...
