  1. Dopey Challenge Training - Week Six

“Keep varying the program. Your body will tell you what to do.” ~ Joan Benoit Samuelson, 1984 Women's Marathon Olympic Gold Medalist

I’m a skinny-fingered person. Not quite Jack Skellington-skinny but there’s just not a lot of fat on those bones (unfortunately there is more than enough fat distributed elsewhere on my body but that is an entirely different discussion). So I’ve found it odd that during long runs my fingers can puff up like ten little pigs in a blanket. Same thing with ...

  2. Dopey Challenge Training - Week Five

"Don't try to rush progress. Remember -- a step forward, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction. Keep believing."
    ~ Olympian Kara Goucher

I’m a training manager by trade. In my day job, I’m used to analyzing what worked and what didn’t work on training projects. 4. Dopey Challenge Training - Week Two

“Remember that failure is part of the process of successful running. Performance is a roller coaster; to think otherwise is irrational and will cause you much stress and discouragement. Lighten up on yourself. Ups and downs can be expected. The performance of most serious runners fluctuates by the week. You win some, you lose some; some days you’re hot, some days you’re not. Don’t fight with yourself when failure, the teacher, pays an unexpected visit. Open up to learning from it.”

  5. Dopey Challenge Training - Week One

Welcome to Week One of the Dopey Challenge training program! Some of you may have followed my blog last year as I prepped for my ‘one and done’ full marathon at WDW by following Hal Higdon’s marathon training program. While my training literally came to a crashing halt at the 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler thanks to an errant speed bump, I slowly but successfully completed the 2014 WDW Marathon and happily ‘retired’ from the full distance with my goal met. One and done lasted until runDisney announced ...
