View Full Version : Camelot Inn and suites Tinker6 04-22-2008, 10:21 AM Has anyone stayed at the Camelot Inn and Suites ? Did you like it ? Any issues ? Thanks Jim Dear and Darling 04-22-2008, 10:24 AM I've stayed there 3 times when it was the Park Inn & Suites. The rooms are older, and pretty dark, but it was clean and comfy, and housekeeping was good and all that. There's a pretty nice pool area on a terrace, and we sat in the hot tub and watched the fireworks a couple of nights. It was nice. There's a small gift shop on premises so you can get drinks and things, and if I remember correctly my rooms had a fridge. There's also a complimentary continental breakfast-- not much, some pastries, cold cereal, toast and juice. But obviously, I stayed there 3 times so I found it to be quite adequate. The location is about as good as it gets. That was before I found the Hojos though, which I very much prefer. LdyApxr 04-22-2008, 10:27 AM We stayed there about 4(or 5) yrs ago and it was nice. It was called something else then and was a Best Western at the time. The pool is great for viewing fireworks and the proximity to Mcdonalds was great for late night sundae runs and early breakfast on the go runs. We had one of the suite rooms(beds in one room, pullout sofa, TV, small dining table in the other) and it comfortably fit all 5 of us(2 adults, 2 teens, one 5yr old) with room to spare. Did not take advantage of the continental breakfast so I can't speak for that but I would stay there again. I wish I had a more updated review but maybe someone else can chime in here. evilqueento2 04-22-2008, 12:03 PM We stayed there last October, we had the family suite with 1 king and 2 queens. there is one bathroom that is only accessed thru the 2nd bedroom (2Q room), so if kids are sleeping could be an issue. We did not partake in the continental breakfast it just was not appealing to us. the pool was clean, the rooms were very clean, housekeeping was very good. I loved the proximity to the park, it is so close! Management was great! WE had an issue on our last night that when we came back from the park late, we did not notice until the next morning that housekeeping had broken my daughters souvenir(normally i put things in the suitcase). Well we were leaving that morning couldn't ger back in the park, told management about it and because the maid had made a note of the incident he went to the park and bought a replacement for us before we left. I thought that was wonderful! because my daughter was crushed, and that is not how you want to end your trip. My one and only issue was that the room did not have the metal bolt at the top of the door, so you can lock it from the inside. So, my son was 2 and I didn't sleep well cause I was afraid that he would wake up and just open the door and walk out. All the hotels have those safety handles now, so all you have to do is turn the knob and your out. We stayed on the 5th floor had a great view of the park. You will enjoy your stay!:D S S Columbia 04-22-2008, 12:39 PM I stayed at the Camelot Inn last August. I also had a good stay, and I would stay there again. The location is excellent, as the walk to the parks is about 6 minutes or so. Yes, the rooms are somewhat dark, but our room was very clean; the housekeeping was consistently good (we stayed there for 5 nights); the swimming pool on the 4th floor isn't large but it was fine; the continental breakfast was decent (the orange juice was good and IMO the coffee was fine); parking was good; and the customer service from the front desk was nice enough. I think the Camelot Inn usually charges between $140 and $160 (including tax). The Howard Johnson (www.hojoanaheim.com) just up the street has an Entertainment Rate that's either $67 or $85 (including tax), and they offer the ER during the less busy times of year (the HoJo doesn't offer the ER between mid-June to mid-August, and most holidays). In most ways, the HoJo was about the same or better than the Camelot, except the HoJo doesn't include a continental breakfast, and the walk from the HoJo is about three minutes longer. (The Camelot and HoJo both offer free internet access, if you have a laptop). The Camelot Inn is fine, but first I would try to get the HoJo Entertainment Rate. Jim Dear and Darling 04-22-2008, 01:40 PM We stayed there about 4(or 5) yrs ago and it was nice. It was called something else then and was a Best Western at the time.. This is just me nit picking and wondering if I'm losing my mind, but when was it a Best Western? I thought it went straight from Park Inn & Suites to the Camelot Inn... I must have missed something.. LdyApxr 04-22-2008, 03:43 PM It was the Best Western Park Inn and Suites. I remember because I got my Best Western gold member rate back then and our suite was $79 a night. A year later when we went it had changed names and I could not find it(couldn't remember what the name of that street was lol) and ended up at the Holiday Inn but through a booking error we ended up at the one waaaaaaaaaay over on Manchester! That was not(according to the front desk) a "short walk" to DL. LOL Tinker6 04-22-2008, 04:14 PM I stayed at the Camelot Inn last August. I also had a good stay, and I would stay there again. They changed the website after we booked - internet is now $10 A DAY ! It's too late for us to change hotels as we are booked on a package. I'm hoping I can find some free internet hot spots ( starbucks here in calgary have them ) so I can check on email and such. LdyApxr 04-22-2008, 04:25 PM Most of the McDonalds around here are wifi hotspots now(Northern CA) so maybe the one next door to Camelot is too. You should be able to pick it up. I'm hoping I can find some free internet hot spots ( starbucks here in calgary have them ) so I can check on email and such. Actually, it's always been $10. BUT, if you get a room towards the back of the hotel, you can catch the free wifi from the Fairfield Inn next door. (BTDT.) S S Columbia 04-22-2008, 04:53 PM ... (The Camelot and HoJo both offer free internet access, if you have a laptop).... I made a mistake in my post (post #5). The Camelot Inn does not provide free internet access. The Camelot Inn charges $9.95/day for wireless access. But the HoJo does indeed provide free internet access. The HoJo provides a Cat 5 cable to connect to the back of your laptop. nvmom 04-22-2008, 09:26 PM We stayed at the Camelot 3 times... 2006 and twice in 07. Twice in the family suite mentioned above (which is very roomy- we did 4 adults and 3 kids and another trip 2 adults and 4 kids... and a stroller & car seat.) I really like that there's an actual kitchen style table in this suite w/4 chairs. There's also a pull out couch in the room w/the king. Our rooms have always been very clean and the mgmt pleasant. I've always gotten the best rates by calling direct. We stayed in a standard king once too... and it was fine. My husband loves the location. nvmom cfitz/pirates 04-23-2008, 06:37 AM They changed the website after we booked - internet is now $10 A DAY ! It's too late for us to change hotels as we are booked on a package. Sorry I have not stayed there but I thought I would just say hi to a fellow Calgarian. pinkpiglet 04-24-2008, 02:53 PM We stayed there last October and we liked it a lot. We stayed in a basic room and found it to be very roomy and very clean. The location is great. It's super close to Disneyland, McDonalds and Quiznos. We liked it enough to re-book it for our trip in mid-May :) Tinker6 04-26-2008, 12:52 PM We stayed there last October and we liked it a lot. See above for responses. Matterhorn Mama 05-14-2008, 03:03 AM I think you may be a bit confused. The Best Western Park Place Inn is still on S. Harbor and is located at the crosswalk to the Disney parks. The Camelot Inn used to be called Park Inn and Suites. It was never a Best Western. Actually there are two Best Westerns on S. Harbor and a plethora of others within minutes. The Camelot Inn (formerly Park Inn and Suites) and the Tropicana (it's sister hotel) are still on S. Harbor. We've stayed at both. Tropicana is a bit less money but virtually the same experience. However, the Camelot has great balconies with a view of the monorail and Matterhorn, as well as evening fireworks, if you can manage to get one of the front upper rooms. We have stayed at the Camelot many times over the last 6 years and also stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn two years ago. (It was still there when we were at DLR in August and the Camelot had already changed it's name). pinkpiglet 05-14-2008, 09:02 AM the Camelot has great balconies with a view of the monorail and Matterhorn, as well as evening fireworks, if you can manage to get one of the front upper rooms. Exactly! We just got back from our stay at the Camelot. Every night we got to enjoy the firework show from our hotel room, just pulled out the chairs to the front door of our room :) We were on the 3rd floor, room 306. If you don't have a room that faces the park, you can go to the pool deck on the fourth floor and watch from there. We like the Camelot. It's always clean, the rates aren't bad (We paid $111 internet rate) and the location is great. It's not deluxe by any stretch of the imagination, but all we want when we go to DLR is a clean place to crash at night. Jim Dear and Darling 05-14-2008, 09:49 AM I think you may be a bit confused.
