So I guess I have spyware or adware on my computer because I have popups that my blocker is not catching and my toolbar on my internet keeps changing when I close the program or when full page popups come up. My current virus protector is not removing all the spyware or adware when I run a full system scan. Does anyone know any other spyware removal programs that I can use( I currently have Norton Internet Security)?????

Lavasoft Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php) and Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html) are the two leaders. I tend to prefer Ad-Aware, because in my experience Spybot reports too many false positives. Either way, they are both very good at finding and removing spyware/adware nasties from your computer. They're both free for personal use.

Speaking of pop-ups--I find kinda amusing that, when accessing the MP website home page upon opening your browser and clicking on say, the Discussion Boards link... a pop-up ad appears (the most common ones I see are either the "High School where are they now" or the Sylvan Learning center ones). Now before anyone slams me for "picking on" MP--note that I did not call it spyware or malware; I understand why MP would need to have such pop-up ads to help support the website. Note--it would appear that the built-in pop-up blockers are blocking any other MP pop-up ads that may be evident, as the only MP pop-up I get is the one that appears when I click on the Discussion Boards link from the MP Home Page.

FWIW--it happens using both Firefox 2.0.0.14 and IE7, and regardless of whether I'm viewing the MP site as a guest or a registered user; apparently Firefox's built-in pop-up blocker isn't good enough to block it, while IE7's built-in pop-up blocker will block it only if you set the pop-up blocker setting to "High". Again, nothing personal against MP...I just find it amusing that the "Medium" pop-up blocker setting in IE7 isn't strong enough to block this particular MP pop-up ad... ;)

It also appears that when the pop-up ad appears, it also plants a short-term cookie that appears to expire after a week; this is why if you close the browser, then reopen it to the MP Home Page and then go to the MP Discussion Board link, the pop-up does not reappear...but if you wait over a week before revisiting the MP Discussion Board link, the pop-up will reappear.
