If your luggage is too heavy and you'd like to lighten your embarkation load, consider shipping some of your supplies and have them mailed to your stateroom.
My understanding is that Quay Cruise agencies is Disney's local agent in the LA area. Here is their site:

Send your package to this address:
Quay Cruise Agency, USA
AS Agents MV Disney Magic
1000 East Del Amo Blvd.
Carson, CA 90746
c/o <Your Name>
Ship: Disney Magic
Cabin Number: <#>
Sail Date: <Date>
Shipping restrictions appear to mirror TSA/airline restrictions. So no foods, liquids or powders. I realize that most things you carry on will need to be carried off. But if you're travelling with young kids and want to pre-ship diapers or other disposables, it may be an option.
They accept UPS and USPS, but prefer UPS.
