My boyfriend and I don't eat there much, however, because we don't like communal seating with strangers. (Just a personal preference. That's why we don't frequent Teppan Edo, also.) If we are ever with a larger group where we could have our own table (or the greater part of a table) we'd go there in a heartbeat! Having said that, we DO recommend the Biergarten to all who ask us but we make sure they understand about the seating!:) If we're really in the mood for German or Japanese cuisine we do stop by Sommerfest or the Yakitori House! mom22gls 04-27-2008, 09:30 AM We were there for the first time last month. It is a really nice buffet, and even my picky eater found enough things to eat. My parents also enjoyed it, and they even had beer, which is really unusual for them. We also liked the entertainment. There was only one other couple at our table, other than my family, and, fortunately, my kids were at the other end, so my husband and I chatted with them a little bit. I would go again. stan4d_steph 04-28-2008, 01:22 AM Was great as usual...enjoyed it twice! What did you have? What did you like? Also, please post a review to our Review system (http://www.mouseplanet.com/reviews) if you haven't done so already for this location. danyoung 04-29-2008, 04:48 AM I thought the buffet was OK, but as a single visitor I really didn't like getting dumped into another family's table (nor did they, as evidenced by their uncomfortable silence!). stan4d_steph 04-29-2008, 07:28 AM I thought the buffet was OK, but as a single visitor I really didn't like getting dumped into another family's table (nor did they, as evidenced by their uncomfortable silence!).But that's essentially what seating is like at a German biergarten, so at least that's "authentic." It may not be the American way, but it's certainly the norm in Europe. danyoung 04-29-2008, 02:46 PM I guess it doesn't matter to me about the authenticity - I just don't like huddling up and eating with folks I don't know! carolinakid 04-29-2008, 03:18 PM I thought the buffet was OK, but as a single visitor I really didn't like getting dumped into another family's table (nor did they, as evidenced by their uncomfortable silence!). Yo, Dan, too bad this family didn't know just who they were sharing a table with. I'm sure you could have regaled them with a wealth of your stories and experiences and answered ALL their questions! :p Their loss... j danyoung 04-29-2008, 06:11 PM Well, to know me is to love me (humbly blushing . . .). scoobydooby 05-04-2008, 10:29 AM But that's essentially what seating is like at a German biergarten, so at least that's "authentic." We're looking forward to it though. tdelaney_98 05-04-2008, 08:43 PM When I went to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (admittedly eons ago as a high schooler), many of the restaurants were larger tables where we ate with people we didn't know. I thought it was cool. Maybe it's just that part of Europe?? steamboatpookster 05-05-2008, 09:10 AM The Biergarten is our favorite place to eat. The first time was kinda strange, eating with folks you don't know, but after a few minutes it was fantastic. Every time we go we meet new and interesting people. We've yet to eat with anyone we didn't like. The conversation is always lively and we meet folks from all around the country. We've yet to eat with any over-seas folks. The food is OK (like most of WDW fare), but the atmosphere is great. We'll eat there again in October! Woohoo! stan4d_steph 05-06-2008, 03:55 PM Europe is a lot of different places and it's certainly not the norm in the UK. We're looking forward to it though.Very true. I should have been more specific. Cheers! freedrph0512 05-07-2008, 07:46 PM We went here for the first time on our last trip a few weeks ago and loved it. We barely noticed the two other people at our table. The food was excellent for me and 2yo son and mother in law. my wife and 5yo daughter were a little more picky, but enjoyed the pretzel rolls, kid buffet and deserts. The intertainment was very good and so was the beer scoobydooby 05-08-2008, 02:33 PM We went here for the first time on our last trip a few weeks ago and loved it. The Blue Parrot 05-10-2008, 08:03 PM Having been to Oktoberfest in Munich, I gotta tell you, that's somewhat the way it is in all of the festival tents. If you have a big enough group, you can reserve an entire table for them. But if you don't, well then you get to share space with lots of other folks there to enjoy good food, good music, good times and especially, great "BIER"! And real Oktoberfest Marzen, well... there ain't nothing like it. Especially when compared to the mass produced and marketed swill found in many places in this country. Think about it! A country civilized enough to have laws about the purity of beer since 1516, it's more than just an excuse for a party! My one visit to the Biergarten at Epcot was in 1999. I enjoyed several mass krug's of Beck's dark. Food was good and filling and we had a good time that evening. But I'd go back to Munich for the real thing anytime. Prosit! |
