I am also, not even cashing the check, stuffing it away to purchase our november park tickets.(buying train tickets next week, airlines have me really worried) I am still waiting for Disney to say " bring the check and we will match it with Disney Dollars"

Um, let's see, regular tax return funding Oct WDW trip, and tax rebate, after donating some to my kids school's PTO, definitely funding May/August trips! Thanks, Republicans, for thinking my private spending is more important than funding social security or health care for all Americans. ;) Dog-gone-it, it is our moral responsibility to stimulate the economy, right!
Oops, got on my political soapbox there. I'm off. Sorry.

I am wondering why EVERY time I start a thread on this forum it gets moved?!?!?!?!?!
Can one of the moderators please let me know what the criteria are for starting a thread?
This topic is clearly related to Disneyland in my opinion. And yet, as I said, every time I start a new thread it gets moved. Frustrating!!!!!

I'm not a mod but I will take a stab in that this is more related to "trip planning" vs "news and events"? As for the "mystery check"? I won't be holding my breath because I have no idea how much it will be and I don't like to count my chicken before they hatch. BUT, IF there is such a check for our family, it will go in the Disney-fund! LOL

Most of ours is going into savings for our WDW trip in 2009. The rest of it will go to much needed tires. :(

If you go to irs.gov then you can use the calculator there to find out how much your check will be. If your return was direct deposited then your stimulas check will be too. Look for the check to be dd on May 2, 9 or 16.
Our regular return paid off our last three trips and ap's. We were impatient and spent it before we got it :fez:. Disney Visa gave us six months no interest on our initial package that we used and then we upgraded to AP's and did the next two trips on a shoestring budget.
We are planning to use part of the stimulas check for our big trip in August. We want to stay at least a week because one of the kids will be participating in Devil Pups down at Pendleton.
Last time one of these was sent out was four years ago and at that time I won the arguement to use it for a trip instead of bills and we went to Washington State and B.C. Best trip we have ever had and we were so glad we did it because when we came back dear husband got orders to deploy to Iraq for two years. Those good memories we made on that trip helped us get through the seperation. We planned the entire time he was gone that we would go to DLR on his return and we did. It was all good.

Now that we have 4 kids, we just can't afford the quarterly pilgrimages anymore. My second son is spending his 5th birthday at DL thanks to Uncle George. What was going to be a budget 3-day trip is now an awesome 5 day experience.

We were planning a trip anyway, but what was going to be a relatively low budget trip is going to be a little more extravagant!

Same for us.
We are getting our check on May 9th and our trip is in early June. The cool thing is this means the trip will not be going on the credit card. :)

You know what's funny- we just paid off our entire May trip to WDW with our tax return. I think it was very well spent. We can't wait.
Not sure what we will do with our stimulus check. If we get it before May 17th- cha ching $$$- more spending money

I'm no accountant but as I understand the economic stimulus checks they're really an advance on your 2009 returning, meaning you have to pay the money back next tax season. Kind of a bummer :(

FYI... Here are the payment dates (http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html)
I was just going to stick ours into savings... but since it's my civic duty to spend it... we'll put it towards our trip this fall. :p

Will I have to repay the money received from the rebate check on a 2008 tax return?
Individuals that receive a stimulus check this year will not be required to repay the stimulus payment on a future tax return. If the taxpayer correctly filed their 2007 tax return and they received a stimulus payment greater than the actual computation of the credit on their 2008 tax return, there will be no penalty and they do not have to repay the extra payment received. If the taxpayer was not otherwise required to file a tax return for 2007, and filed one for the stimulus payment, they will not have to pay taxes on or claim as income, the stimulus payment received.
But... I'm sure we'll end up paying for it in the end somehow

According to the payment schedule that the IRS posted online, I should be receiving my direct deposit payment on May 9th...just in time for my Mother's day trip to DLR!!!! Yay me!

That article says that congress gave this by creating a tax credit and that we will have to account for it on our return next year, but that it will not change next year's return. They only wanted it accounted for to assure that you didn't get too big a credit.
So, no you don't pay this back.

How wonderful to read something like this! It fills my heart with joy. I know from other threads that it is now "momuveight"! I can't imagine dealing with that whole brood for two years on your own! You must be a very special family. My, how you guys have paid for this tax rebate! I am so happy it all worked out!
On your next trip, I hope you win the Dream Suite. Of course, you'll need two nights to accommodate the whole family! If there is such a thing as Karma, you guys will win it!
As I said, my heart is full and thank you for your service to our country!
