View Full Version : Restaurant Marrakesh
lilfaeriebrat 04-17-2008, 03:06 PM I have this down for an ADR for my trip in September based on my BFF's co-workers recomendation. I looked at the menu and it looks safe enough but I'm concerned about the spices. Does anyone know if their meals are spicey as in hot spicey because I can't do that and would hate to end up getting a meal I couldn't eat.
Drince88 04-17-2008, 09:17 PM We went there for a food and wine pairing, and it was not hot spicy, just nicely spiced. More nutmeg-y/cinnamon-y flavors of spice vs pepper hot. If you have concerns about that, talk with your server. They know the menu well, and know that this is the first experience with Moroccan food for most people.
HisKid1 04-18-2008, 09:20 AM I ate there a few years ago. I don't like spicy stuff either. I remember I did have dh taste-test a few things for me before I would eat them (you could just as easily ask the server as they set down the food). I do recall that the food was yummy, and a very nice change.
petesimac 04-18-2008, 09:39 AM It's a lot of fun! You'll have a great time.
Mark Goldhaber 04-20-2008, 11:34 AM It's flavorful-spicy, not hot-spicy. While Moroccan wouldn't seem to be high on my personal list for cuisines to sample, I seem to go back there an awful lot to eat.
runner110 04-20-2008, 11:59 AM We really like it, and we (wife and two little guys) have very different tastes. Also, they have the cheapest wine in WDW. A carafe is around $15, as opposed to $8 a glass elsewhere.
lilfaeriebrat 04-22-2008, 11:27 AM Thanks for all the great input. My mind (and stomach) is at ease now for eatting here.
I really like this restaurant, and I do find that their recipies are "Americanized" to a great degree (moreso that I would prefer, but I understand the situation they face with presenting an unknown cuisine to vacationing families). Here is their most recent menu, as of February 2008:

steamboatpookster 05-05-2008, 09:23 AM We ate there for our honeymoon ten years ago. I think it was a different name then. We loved it. When we were getting ADRs, I asked the nice woman on the other end of the phone about possible places to eat. She recommended Morocco. The belly dancer was mesmerizing!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's always been Marrakesh.

Which one is the Tangerine? I'm probably getting the cafe confused with the sit-down. Eaten at both, enjoyed them both. Still, the bellydancer RULED!
Drince88 05-06-2008, 11:39 AM Tangerine Cafe is the counter service in Morocco. I agree, it's good, too!
carolinakid 05-06-2008, 01:43 PM Not to be bitchy but it's a common mistake...it's the Tangierine Cafe, named after the city of Tangier, Morocco.:) I like the lamb sandwich with a side of hummus. The Moroccan coffee is good here too, especially on a cool evening.

Thanks! I didn't know that!
purplekisses2000 05-09-2008, 10:04 AM Does anyone know if you can use a TS credit(2008 plan) for the Royal Feast?
MouseHipster 05-11-2008, 05:38 AM It's a great place. If you like Turkish cuisine (Greek), this is basically the same.
