I'll be at DLR this Sunday. We will likely eat somewhere at DTD and then want to catch the Electrical Parade. Any suggestions for a good location to view the parade? Where on the route is the least dense crowd? How long would you suggest arriving before the start?

As I am not that familiar with DCA, could you give me good landmarks so I can identify where you are describing?

Thanks so much!

The best place are the benches around McHullond Madness and the Orange Zinger. The parade starts just before near the entrance of McDonald's and you can easily secure a bench thirty minutes or so ahead of time.

Thanks momovseven, who from your signature I see is now momoveight. Wow, that must be quite a handful! And entry to DL alone must be close to $1000 per day!

Nah, more like a $1000 a year cause we are all APs. Hope you have a great trip.

If you end up sitting on the ground, you can see the boundaries in the concrete. There is a nearly continuous seam that runs along the sides of the parade route. That seam is as close as you can sit. There are a few places where the boundary is only 3 feet from a wall or fence. If you sit in one of those areas, it's likely that there will only be one row of seating (no one behind you or in front of you).

We'll be there this weekend too! I'm pretty much non-descript other than curly hair and a big smile. My husband is easy to spot. He has a long ponytail, black or yellow crocs, and is usually dressed in Tinkerbell gear. If you see us, say Hello! :)

I agree and we did this last weekend. We sat right across from the Golden Zeypher. We were exhausted so we sat on the bench about an hour before the parade, but really we only needed like a half hour. As soon as the America float passed, we jumped up and got out before the rest of the crowd. It was great!!
