I am planning a trip for 2010 and am wondering if it is worth it to get an AP.
Does anyone know what kind of Discount you would get ..say staying at a Moderate Hotel ( CORONADO SPRINGS?) which shows a nightly rate of $159.00. Does anyone know what and if there is a AP rate and how much you would save?

Traditionally the moderate discount is $40 to $50. So if you're staying a week, you'll save from $280 to $350. Compare that with the price of a ticket for the same timeframe. Also, if you plan it right, you can visit the following year (2011) during the week before your AP expires, thus getting 2 trips within the same year. Very much worth it for me!

Do you get an AP discount with room-only reservations? Do you have to have the pass before you book the room? This is new to me. I wasnt aware of this perk.

From time to time (usually other than "superpeak" times) there are discounts of up to 40% offerred to Annual Passholders. These pretty much get to be common knowledge and are room only (since you have your tickets).
When you check in at the Resort you have to show your AP to confirm you are eligible for the rate. If you do not have an activa AP with you, you will be given a cetrtain amount of time (usually 24 hours or midnight the next night) to return to the front desk with the active AP. If you do not show up your rate will be increased to full rack rate and the charge will run through to your credit card.

I have to add that while you are supposed to show your AP at the front desk, I don't think I've been asked once in the past 10 years for it. Maybe I just have an honest face and they assume I really do have the AP. Not that I'm suggesting anybody try to sneak in a discount that they don't deserve!
