How is the bus system at Coronado Springs? We are doing a Grand Gathering next year, and have to do a mod to fit everyone's budget. DH wants CS since it is the newest of the mods, but I am reading bad reviews about the bus system. Anyone have any experience here, good or bad? TIA.

We stayed at CS in December. I had read a lot of people complaining about the buses also. But we found the buses were excellent. Better to catch them at other stops, then at the front of the building. We did find the food there to be a little pricey. Good luck.

Thanks. Did you rely on Disney Transportation the entire time? We always park hop, and that is our worry...we will do a WP in the AM, and then back to the hotel to relax and change. We tend to do the parks in the evening, since we usually go in August, when it is so hot.

Thanks again!

While not directly related to CS, we usually depend solely on Disney Transportation. Even in August, it can be busy at times but reasonably manageable, especially with your type of plans - WP in the AM, go back to hotel, then park in the afternoon/evening.

I think the best thing to do is to just add a few extra minutes for each trip on the bus and things will work out just fine.

CS busses stop at the main building, and also I believe 3 different stops around the big loop of room buildings. I'm also pretty sure that the CS doesn't share their busses with any other property. I'm a big car renter, but on times when I've taken CS busses I haven't had any problem with them. And the CS is, in my opinion, the best of the moderates and even better than some of the deluxes. You're gonna love it!

How can you knock a system that is; Free, safe, and gets you where you need to go. First of all if you fly you may never have the need to rent a auto, probably saving over $60 a day. If you do get a car or drive there is a big chance you will spend more time driving on property, getting lost, getting a ticket or getting into a wreck. When you drive you might have to pay the parking fees at he parks. You will also have to park some distance away from the entrance and walk or wait some length of time for the tram. When you compare the waiting time for the buses against everything a car will give the buses will come out on top. By the way the service to the Coronado Springs is usually good. We try to sch. all stops at all resorts and all theme parks about every 25 min.

I know this is an ongoing discussion - renting vs. busses. And I know that everyone has their own opinion about it. But I have to take on a couple of your points -

If you do get a car or drive there is a big chance you will spend more time driving on property, getting lost, getting a ticket or getting into a wreck.

This seems a bit over the top to me. Yes, I'll spend driving time on property, but not a minute beyond what the busses will take. And the road signs are mostly pretty excellent - I rarely get lost, I've never gotten a ticket on property, and I've never even come close to getting in a wreck.

When you drive you might have to pay the parking fees at he parks.

If you stay on property, parking is free. If you're off property, chances are your hotel's (non-Disney) bus service will be so crappy that you'd be much better off renting a car.

You will also have to park some distance away from the entrance and walk or wait some length of time for the tram.

While this is true, in my experience the 5 minutes or so waiting for a tram is much less than the 20 to 30 minutes that you might wait for a bus. And at the MK, I'd much rather start out at the TTC and take the ferry across the water, increasing the anticipation and excitement, than get off of a bus right at the entrance.

I know some folks just don't like to drive on vacation, and the busses work out great for them. But I've done it both ways in the past, and renting a car at the Orlando airport works out really great for me.

Always subject to change, but in the times we've stayed at CS we've discovered that the main building is actually the last bus stop. Lots of people hit the food court for meals then head to that bus stop (#1) so there is usually a crowd to board.

The #2 bus stop has been the actual first stop during my stays there, then #3, #4, #1. There is one stop in each area plus the main building. The building groups are labeled as casitas, rancheros, and cabanas.

Some mid day busses would combine the parks with Blizzard Beach, and very rarely (usually late at night after park closing when they are transporting us last few stragglers back "home") they would make a stop at the AKL or one of the All Star bus stops, but for general purposes there is no park bus sharing here.

All buses except Down Town use the side ent. for CS making the #2 stop the first for them. Down Town uses the ft. ent so #1 is the first.
