View Full Version : Disneyland Hotel Monorail, Nemo, Tomorrowland question.
beninden 04-11-2008, 06:45 PM Hi all,
Next week we arrive. This is our first time staying in the Disneyland Hotel. My question is..... What is the best strategy for Nemo powerwalk. Should we take the monorail to tomorrowland or powerwalk from the front gates. My wife will head to Nemo with the kids while I head to Space Mountain for fastpasses.
Our last visit was in 2006 and Nemo was closed, plus we were staying at the Carousel.
Thanks all!
mrsdisney68 04-11-2008, 06:48 PM We did the powerwalk thing on an Early Entry day and our wait was about 30min total. That was in July last year. Not bad for that time of year. People were running which I find crazy, we just walked fast went through Fanstyland and got in line. Good Luck, it was really cool:fez:
MammaSilva 04-11-2008, 06:51 PM If you are at the front of the line when the gates open you probably would get to nemo/Space faster than the monorail, they are only running one at the moment and it's not necessarily up and running 'as soon as the park opens...if there's any delay at all you're stuck on the loading platform.

When you say "through Fantasyland," I assume you mean walk to the right of the castle, and then the right of the Matterhorn, and not actually through Fantasyland.
doublewide77 04-11-2008, 10:48 PM You might consider the opposite plan. Save nemo for very end of night. Since nemo line doesn't close till closing, you get "ëxtra" park time if you do it just before park closing. Being on property you could even just go back late just for nemo. Thanks to the nemo morning rush, lots of other ride opportunities during then.
Wendy Bird 04-12-2008, 01:20 AM I'd go through the gates too. On our last trip, the monorail was only working half the time. :(
diz4us 04-12-2008, 07:18 AM Just curious, why does everyone rush to Nemo? I haven't been there in 7 yrs and we're going next week with our 2 boys ages 5yrs and 3 yrs. I thought the Nemo ride was just the submarine ride with Nemo exhibits instead of the old exhibits. Is it really cool?

When a lot of people are rushing to Nemo in the morning they are directed between the Castle and the Matterhorn (left of the Matterhorn). This brings everyone into the end of the line as it forms.

It is the old ride with a new story. But for my kids, they've never been on the subs so it's exciting. We were only able to ride it once during our trip and I'm glad we did. We went during our MM and it is the only time the line was short enough. I really liked the updates. It was also fun being on it again.
beninden 04-12-2008, 10:52 AM Thanks all. Well, I'm interested in the option that says bypass nemo in the morning. It is on the first list of things to do for the 2day plan in the unofficial book. Perhaps skipping that one and hitting it at the end of the night is better.
Also, we'll use the monorail for trips back from, but not to the park.
Thanks for the advise everyone!
This year we are going to powerwalk to the gates. Last year we tried the monorail and it didn't leave the station untill the park opened for early admission. By the time the monorail got to the TL station, the Nemo line was 60+ min.
partyoffive 04-16-2008, 10:04 AM I don't know about busy times, but on our trip in March, we found that the nemo line was pretty much the same all day long - and the sign with the wait time was typically 15 to 30 minutes longer than the actuall wait time. We got in line mid morning and it was 30 minutes - and it moved the whole time so it wasn't that bad of a wait - I didn't think it was worth running in for though.
yellowrosedtxn 04-16-2008, 12:11 PM I did the power walk thing at Christmas time. I'll tell you, I was hurting by the time I got to Nemo, but I was close to the beginning of the line and we got to ride the first sub of the day (EE day). I enjoyed the ride, but not sure I would "rush" to do it again. People do run to get to the ride first, but my son and I just power walked and did just fine.
If you decide to do the ride in the morning, then go between the castle and the Matterhorn because they have any other way blocked off to the ride (at least that was our experience).
I would like to try Nemo during a fireworks display or something like that though. I can't seem to hang with staying until the park closes, but I am up at 5:00 in the morning raring to go.

I did this and the wait was only about 30 minutes. The end point of the line was at the lagoon curve across from Tomorrowland Terrace. And of course, there was no sun beating down on you at that time. I would definitely suggest this as an option for shortening your wait time.
By the way, I agree with several of the other posters. It's a very fun and innovative ride, yet now that I've seen it, I wouldn't wait for more than 30 minutes to go on it again.
