View Full Version : Southern CA Tix
Disney Daddy of 4 04-10-2008, 01:57 PM I have a family that live in Riverside. They want to get us tickets to DL and meet up with us at the park. If they get the Southern CA tickets for us, will we be able to enter the park without them? They would prefer to come later in the day. I do not want to miss MM, but they are not all that interesested in getting up at the crack of dawn.
HisKid1 04-10-2008, 02:37 PM Don't they ask for ID when you swap the socal tickets at the booth? Is a socal person allowed to buy tickets for themselves plus extras for out-of-towners?

Also, they always asked my son's ex-gf for ID at the entrance when she used a so cal ticket.
Disney Daddy of 4 04-11-2008, 08:35 AM I would be bummed if no MM. Even so, the rest of my family does not want to show until noon.
HisKid1 04-11-2008, 08:37 AM I've not read anything that mentions the socal tickets coming with MM. Where did you get your info?
HisKid1 04-11-2008, 08:39 AM Also, be careful, because a lot of places will SELL the socal ticket, but it is my understanding that the proof of residency occurs when you USE it. I'm not sure you will be able to use one at all, if you are not residents, but I wouldn't understand how you could possibly do it without the residents even being there. I could definitely be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Disney Daddy of 4 04-11-2008, 01:03 PM They had mentioned that they thought it came with MM. I am kinda bummed that it doesn't. They also really do not want ot come til noon and we want to spend the whole day. Any ideas?
HisKid1 04-11-2008, 01:31 PM I have to say that I am worried for you that you will get to DL and not be able to get in with the socal tickets at all, whether they are with you or not. Really. I think you need to be absolutely sure you are willing to risk that possibility before you allow them to purchase socal tickets for you. If you just buy them on your own (I know it's more expensive, but I honestly would not be willing to risk it with my family, unless I was absolutely positive I could use them) then you can go anytime you want. Early entry, as far as I have heard, is only available with either certain packages, or with a stay at one of the specific hotels.
I don't want to sound like a nag or a broken record, but I am just picturing how I would feel standing there with my family, having them say we couldn't get in with the tickets we have paid for, and then having to make the choice of whether to REbuy full-price tickets, or just leave.

With everything that has been brought up about no MM and needing id, I think you would be better off just buying regular ones. They may be more expensive but if you want to go early and they don't you really don't have a choice. If you want to know if they can buy them for you, call DL. I'm sure they would let you know if a SC resident can buy them for out of towners. Then you'd know.
Malcon10t 04-11-2008, 03:10 PM Out of curiosity, what So Cal tickets are they buying for you? 1 day? or a multi day? Or an AP?
Just to clarify, MM or EE is available to non discounted 3 day and longer park hoppers. By non discounted I mean, other than the military and special discounts, not GetAwayToday or AAA type discounts.
Disney Daddy of 4 04-11-2008, 04:39 PM I am not really sure which ones they are buying or bought. We are planning for 3 days. We make so many other trips, but our AP's are finally outdated. :crying:
They are just trying to do something nice for our family. It has bee a tough year.

If they want to be helpful, there are still lots of other tickets and park hoppers available.
I understand wanting to do something nice for you, but if it's not going be as convenient as you anticipated, it's nobody's fault, it just is what it is.

Malcon10t 04-12-2008, 12:06 AM I may be wrong, but I don't think the SoCal discounted tickets include a 3 day pass. If they buy a regular 3 day pass, it will have MM available.
Leap for Joy 04-12-2008, 08:29 AM Perhaps they could send you the money they're planning to spend and then you could apply that toward the tickets that work best for you. That way you'll have tickets on hand and they still made it happen.
