We made a spontaneous trip to our favorite place, DL, last week. It was a very last minute decision and had a blast. We usually drive (30 hrs) but due to time restraints found a half decent price out of Calgary. So drove the 8 hours to calgary and hopped on the plane.
We tried many things we hadn't tried before. Indiana Jones, Soarin, Thunder Mountain. I was always afraid of getting sick, but they were great!Some of the best in fact!
My DD and DH tried Sceamin'. DD loved it but DH not so much.
I've read on this site about Dole Whip and Bacon wrapped asparagus and just had to try them this time. Loved them! It's funny 'cause we got funnel cakes as usual and walked from the Mint Julep bar to main street and lots of people asked what these things were and where did we get them.
We stayed at the Desert Inn and liked it. We've stayed there before, the location is great. The only thing is that I wished they served breakfast a little earlier. It doesn't start until 7:30 and If one is going to get to the park before the gate opens you can't wait or you wolf down breakfast (which we did cause I am not paying for breakfast twice)
The high lite of the trip was our two prizes. We (actually our youngest dd enjoyed it the most) won 5 minutes of one on one time with two princesses without having to wait in line. A nice man in blue clothing gave that to us our second morning. On our last day we finally found the people in the white vests(dream team) in CA. I had been watching out for them all week.
We all got dream ears. I was so excited. My oldest DD said that you'd think I'd won the night in Walts' studio. ha ha.
We celebrated the 7 years old birthddays (turning 8 close together) at the Plaza Inn and bought birthday buckets for them. For $20 they got a plastic pail with a lid, a disney pin, magnetic stickers, a toy and a nice sized cake with a yummy fruit filling.Who all was on ths fantastic trip. Me, dh, 3 dds (15 14, 7), my sister, her husband and their two children ( 7 & 11)
I hope I haven't forgotten anything important.
