Hi. I usually go to Disneyland during December for the holidays and I was wondering if Small World will be ready for the holiday season. My family and I usually come during the late summer and in December from the East Coast. I called DL and I got conflicting information. One cast member told me that it would be back in early 2009 as the new Small World and for this 2008 holday season onle Haunted Mansion Holiday will be running...I called again and another CM told that Small World Holiday may be ready for 2008. Does anyone know when Small World is expected to return? I think the refurb will take longer than expected.

Rumor has it that IASW will open in November this year, just in time for the holidays.

The date we are given on the CM reference guides is 11/29. However, some people think it will be done earlier, others think it may take longer. The signs on the wall out front say it will be returning for the holiday season. Looks like we'll just have to wait and see how everything goes before we know any more certainly.

Will it return as the updated version or the holiday overlay? I would think Disneyland would want to promote the updated version vs. the holiday overlay.

According to Al Lutz, Small World will not reopen for Thanksgiving 08 but will reopen sometime in the Winter of 2009.

I've heard it will be the updated holiday version, but I don't have any official word on that. As far as Al Lutz goes, take him with a grain of salt. Maybe he's right, maybe not. He's obviously got a very good source, but the people I've talked to say they're hoping it will be done even earlier than anticipated (but absolutely no promises). So really, no one knows at this point; not me, not even Al Lutz.
