View Full Version : travel packages with APs
jcatron243 04-04-2008, 07:45 AM Can I book a travel package that includes airfare/hotel/shuttle through WDTC if I have AP's for everyone? Or would it actually be better just to do everything seperately?
Also con you get any flight deals with an annual pass or is that just when you buy tickets?
yellowrosedtxn 04-04-2008, 08:28 AM You can get a package using APs. At least with one because I did it for our trip in Dec. What I would do is have them price out a package and then maybe price everything out again separately. (Maybe do two different calls.)
I think you will need the numbers of all the APs though. As far as deals on airfair with APs. I don't think so.
TTFN92 04-04-2008, 08:59 AM When we were booking through AAA for us and my sister's family, they did packages w/ APs. We didn't have them but my sister's family did. They did need the AP #s. You also had to call the agent to do them. You can't do them online. As far as I know, AAA goes through WDTC so it should work with them too. Just don't try to use the website.
jcatron243 04-04-2008, 09:05 AM Since we are planning a march trip I was wondering if it would just be better to go with the 5 for 3 deal, then kids fly free (only if they are both offered ofcourse). But with an AP we would be more likely to stay at an onsite hotel so the discount would be great (plus the other discounts would be worth it). I did some math and priced it out with kids fly free/5 for 3. AP's with an AP discount for onsite hotels (using the average price I have seen with AP codes)
Based on my math it looks like the prices are virtually the same for two trips (staying onsite) Only IF the 5 for 3 deal is going on AND kids fly free. If not the APs would be Much more worth it. Plus if we get AP's then we will be more likely to go more than once a year <giggling at the idea> and the savings would be much more.
TTFN92 04-04-2008, 11:01 AM Since we are planning a march trip
Are you planning a March trip for next year? I'm a little confused if you are because how will you know if the 5 for 3 deal is happening?
On the other hand, I would go for the AP. I would rather go more often than stay onsite once.
jcatron243 04-04-2008, 01:23 PM Yes March of next year. and I don't know that they will have that deal that is why I am in such a debate with myself. I don't want to miss out on a better deal. If they have the same deal then will I be kicking myself, do you know what I mean.. If they don't then I will kick myself for NOT getting AP's. I am too much of an overplanner/budgeter. I want the best deal for my $$. Anyway I think that the benefits of an AP will out weigh the negatives. SO I convinced my Husband to get AP's for the whole family for March. (The two of us are going in August so we will upgrade from parkhoppers then.)
MammaSilva 04-05-2008, 09:20 AM Historically the 3 day 2 free deal has happened for at least the last 3 years if not longer...it's the hopper I buy for our spring trip then upgrade for our hoppers for the rest of the year. I buy mine thru AAA for the free refillable mug offer which saves even more money even if there are only selected locations to refill them. I don't know that you can combine those hoppers with kids fly free as the best deal, I've heard others mention that they've done better on their air fare by watching the sales and grabbing their tickets when an airline offered a bargin fare but everyones miles may vary.
jcatron243 04-05-2008, 10:01 AM We got a great deal when we went last month. We got the 5 for 3, kids fly free, and our 4th night in the hotel was free.
I loved booking through the WDTC because they were so helpful and full of suggestions for traveling with young kids. I like the idea of AP's because I would love to go on a spur of the moment trip and with the AP's I would be more likely to convince my husband. We want to start making an annual trip to DL with the kids and I like the idea of the discounts at the resort hotels, plus the discounts on food.
My hubby figures that we should get the AP's then watch for airfare deals and hotels deals and book'em when we see'em.
Practice makes perfect -- have fun!
genericeric 04-06-2008, 07:28 AM Is it just me, or is planning the trip almost as exciting as being there? My Disney vacation started the moment we got home in October, been searching for deals since then. And it will begin again as soon as we touch down in May from our latest trip. :D
MammaSilva 04-06-2008, 07:59 AM I have to agree, heck I don't even wait til we've actually gone on the next trip, right now I have 4 trips in planning stages all with unique 'needs' to meet the needs of each trip, one is to check out a hotel room (yeah I know) for a trip that will have about 18 people on it in the fall, another is the trip with the 18 people of course, then our annual December trip and just because we might do a quick weekend summer run to go on the wet rides I don't let Missy ride if the temps aren't going to be above 72 for the day.

I am not sure the anticipation is as exciting as actually being there but pretty darn close. :D
Love the way you put it, jMom. . ."practice makes perfect". . . wanna do some more practicing? :D;)
Oh yes, Ruthie! And remember, we learn from our mistakes! So those trips will have to just keep on going and going and going ... :D

Oh, wouldn't that be loverly??? :D
I think it's great to start planning your a trip a year (or more) in advance! I do it quite often. ;) Disney does seem to use the same or similar specials at the same time from year to year.
