My step-mom is going to come and stay for one day with us during our DL trip in May. She uses portable oxygen, and tires easily, so we are going to rent a wheelchair for her. She has never used the motorized type (ECV?) and I think she would be dangerous on one. How easy are they to drive? I think a push chair will be a better option for us. It will only be for a 1/2 day (we are staying for 5 days) that she will be there.

She will be arriving mid-day (taking train up from San Diego), so can we reserve one in the morning? Can we reserve one even earlier? If we didn't, and waited until mid-day, could they run out (it will be a weekday)?

Do you have to return it to the rental spot at the end of the day, or could you leave it at the Tomarrowland Monorail station? Can you take them to the DLH? If not, maybe the hotel has a courtesy transportation vehicle (like airports do). I know it is a short walk, but she may be really tired at the end of the day. So, we'll see.

Are you staying on property? If so, check with your hotel, all 3 have chairs they loan on property guests (but are limited in number so it depends on how many requests)...if you borrow one from your hotel then you can use it from your room to the parks and back, if you rent one from the park rental place you can't even take it on the monorail because they aren't allowed beyond the bag check areas. As for renting/reserving one...I don't think you can reserve one but you can go send someone to rent one as the park opens and just keep it til you need it later in the day.

When we stayed at the DLH in early March, when I made the reservations, I let them know we would need 2 wheelchairs for our entire visit, when we arrived they were waiting for us at the Bell Desk, we had them with us the entire trip, we could take them through DTD and up to our rooms and into both parks, it worked out great, when we departed, we just returned them back to the Bell Desk, I beleive we were only charged $10 each for the full 2 days...hope this helps. Does the oxygen attach to a wheelchair?
