HELP! I've been searching everywhere trying to find the exact information needed for the segway tours at Epcot. They sound like a blast and I would love to surprise my son with the tour. He has been wanting to ride a segway for years! Does anyone know where I can go to get the specifics on the tour? cost, times, age limits, etc? I may want to purchase the tour prior to our trip (this August). Any help would be great!
also...if you have done the trip recently (within the last year) I would love to hear about it!
Thanks everyone - you are awesome!:D

Did a search off the main MP page and found this recent article (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm080307av)about the tour.
Hope you find this helpful. It looks like a great time.

Here's the page (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/tourDetail?id=AroundtheWorldEpcotTourPage)from the official WDW site. You have to be 16.
My sister and I did it in October, and it was a lot of fun, but don't expect a TON of 'tourguide' information. There will be some, but the appeal of this tour is the Segway. You're also given 'recess time' in one of the countries, which some think is too long, others think it's about right.

I booked this tour for my husband as a surprise for our upcoming June trip. There is a AAA discount availible. It is about $80 with the discount.

okay...now I'm curious...how do they check the age? specifically, how do they know the person is 16 and not 15?
I'm looking primarily for the treat of riding a segway through epcot - anything else will be a bonus!
Thanks everyone!!!

You would want to ask that when you make your reservation. They told me that my husband has to bring a picture ID with him when he checks in at the front gate. Also, this tour equires that you pay at the time you make the reservation.

We also had to bring a picture id -- my teenagers included.
We did the tour last June and loved it! I'd go into more detail but I think the article Gusman linked has it all.

I could see two different reasons for the age limit - one is actually using the Segway (they need people who are capable of handling a vehicle). The other is that this tour, iifc, technically goes "backstage" (into a closed area of the park where maintenance and other work might be going on). If the later is the case they definitely will check photo id to ensure that the magic won't be ruined.
Another slightly cheaper option that I did was the Segway presentation in Innoventions. Here you were able to ride a Segway for a short while with the help of a cast member. It's another idea at least.

Actually, I think the 16 year old age limit with backstage areas has more to do with OSHA type laws than with ruining the magic. Though I think it's a bit of a stretch to call Future World before opening "backstage" (I think they do, but it's still a stretch!)
