View Full Version : Warm pool/hotel help!
potterphreak 03-27-2008, 04:04 PM Trying to book for December trip (I know, it's early but it's for a big group of us) and we want to stay on Harbor Blvd., as close as possible to DL, and we want a really warm pool.
We have stayed at Desert Inn and Suites before and their pool is nasty dirty so that is not an option. We have stayed at Anaheim Plaza Inn and Suites and the pool was awesome but I can't remember if it was warm and DH doesn't like that hotel anyways so that is not an option. We LOVE the Lemon Tree which is about a 5 minute drive away but their pool is definitely not warm so again, not an option.
I am really interested in the HoJo, the Candy Cane and BW Park Place Inn. What can you tell me about those pools?
Thanks in advance for any and all information!!!
Schmetterling 03-27-2008, 04:31 PM Well, I can't tell you about the ones you asked about, but the Park Vue Inn is also an option. I stayed there in April one year, and we were able to go swimming even at 10 PM. Someone should be able to answer about the other hotels though. :)
Wendi 03-27-2008, 04:38 PM Hojo's says their pool is heated, but it is COLD... the kid's area is even colder. The warmest pool I've been in is the Disneyland Hotel Neverland Pool. I know we used the Sheraton Anaheim pool at Thanksgiving but I can't remember how warm it was... I'm sure it was warmer than Hojo's - but it is also deep, so be careful if you have little children that aren't strong swimmers yet - mine jumped in before I was ready to get in myself!
potterphreak 03-27-2008, 05:04 PM Stayed at the DLH a few times and Neverland pool was never warm to us!!! LOL The Cove Pool was FABULOUS but I am unwilling to pay their prices. <sigh>
Thanks! Keep it coming to all who know!! And remember, it will be December! hahaha
emmah 03-27-2008, 06:25 PM the sheraton anaheim pool is warm like a bath and deeeeep. i LOVE it. it's not themed or anything, but it's a decent size and its so unusual to find a hotel pool that is really deep (it has various levels). i used it a couple of afternoons in early february and it was wonderful.
rentayenta 03-27-2008, 06:58 PM I found both the DLH's Neverland pool and the HoJo's pool a little chilly but that's what the hot tub is for!
Malcon10t 03-27-2008, 07:31 PM If I remember correctly, the Marriott pool (on Convention Way) was heated and is partially indoors. I believe the Hilton (on Convention also) is heated.
potterphreak 03-27-2008, 07:36 PM The reason I want a pool so badly is my kids use that to decompress. Yes, hot tubs are nice for ME, LOL, but they need something bigger where they can be all crazy and splashy and hopefully not bothering the other people in the hot tub. Kids LOOOOOVE to swim and they hardly ever get to do it here. The last trip we took to DL, my almost 4 year old chose going to DL late so she could swim first and chose leaving DL early so she could swim. Go figure!! Save the money and hit the pool at my gym, no?! HAHAHA
Thanks for your guys' info, you are giving me insight into hotels I had never A. thought of or B. heard of!
Chadsgal 03-27-2008, 08:25 PM The Anahiem Marriott Main Gate's kid pool was really warm and the regular pool was pretty good too. The last time I was at DLH the Neverland pool was freezing. It was December and I never even got in past my knees. We are going to Hojo's and I hope the pool is pretty good but we will be going at the begining of Sept so the weather should still be nice.
bennette 03-28-2008, 08:41 AM We were at the Candy Cane and the Disneyland Hotel in February. Both have heated pools.
It was freezing/raining most of the time I was there so there was no outdoor pool that was going to be warm enough for this So Cal girl! I did see some Europeans and midwesterners in the pool at the Candy Cane but thought they might be "different" in their assessment of "good" weather.
The Neverland Pool was warmer and it was a mostly sunny by the later part of the trip. My nephew swam in that pool a lot and would have spent more time there if possible. His mom swam too, although she thought it could have been a tad warmer.
Enjoy your trip.
The old man 03-29-2008, 02:10 PM I think the minimum for a winter pool tempeture is 86 degrees. Perhaps you could call them and see if they can give you the setting they use. Probably they won't, but it can't hurt to ask.
VickiC 03-29-2008, 02:37 PM The po my kids swim in for their team is 80 degrees in the winter. 86 would be balmy to them!

You can't go much higher than 80 for a pool people work out in, because of the overheating issue. One pool I swam in they kept at about 82 (because it was also used by kids for playing and water aerobics) - and I couldn't wear a cap in that pool because I'd get overheated and actually get light-headed.
potterphreak, have you considered seeing if there are any hotels in the area that have indoor pools? In winter, they're usually warmer.
Mr. Sticky 04-27-2008, 07:31 PM We have stayed at Anaheim Plaza Inn and Suites and the pool was awesome but I can't remember if it was warm
We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza Inn in late November of 06, and boy was that pool ice cold! I specifically asked them if it was well heated, and they said it was. But There is no way it could have been above 72 degrees that week.
The pool at my Gym is heated to 80, and that's fine for laps, but not so fun for my kids. I'd look for a pool in the 80+ category if you have kids. (If you can get the hotel to honestly tell you what they set the thermostat to...)
Malcon10t 04-27-2008, 07:32 PM Hojos says 80 degrees.
