Well, we are home! Finally! LOL It has been a long week and a great one. We left for Dland on the 20th at about noon after getting the youngest(Riley, 9yrs) from school and getting everything together. The caravan was me in the Santa Fe towing the empty motorcycle trailer, the eldest(Josh 18) in his car with his friend Katie(17) and Bill on my bike with Riley. We made it a little past Westley(about 2hrs) when Riley decided that he had had enough of the motorcycle so we loaded it on the trailer and headed on. We stopped in Buttonwillow to eat only to find out that the trailer had lost its lights and we ended up making it to Lebec and staying at the Best Western Liberty Inn. Nice hotel, decent breakfast bar and nice rooms. Ok, off to Dland! It took about 3hrs due to icky LA traffic but we got to PP at about 1pm. One room was ready and the other wasn't but we were early for check in so it was no biggie. We headed over to the StoryTeller Cafe for a late lunch. No wait and we were seated and served very quickly! Jaime was our server and he was great! Riley did the Make It Yourself Pizza and LOVED IT plus he got to take it to the cook with Jaime. We had the Corn Chowder and salads and it was great! Katie had spaghetti and the portion was HUGE! It was a great meal and badly needed! LOL The older kids headed into the park while Bill, Riley and I headed to the pool for a bit. Riley loved the waterslide and was a happy camper! We took a little rest before heading over to DCA and when we got in we were going to get FP's for Soarin but a family came up to us and said they were leaving the park and handed us 3 passes for immediate entry! Very NICE! Rode only that and then just wandered a bit. Went into Dland and watched the parade(not sure which one it was lol) and then hit Star Tours(Rileys fave next to the Matterhorn!) and shopped a bit. That evening Riley wanted to try Build A Bear at about 930 but I thought it might have closed but it was open with no lilne at all! Riley built a Golden Retriever and dressed it in Pirate gear. Highlight of his evening!
Saturday morning we headed out to Wildomar to meet up with our friends that live there and pick up Bills new track bike(02 Kawasaki Race Bike) and then we left the older two kids with the younger two(Riley and our Friends son) and headed out for some sushi and then to a couple of local wineries. Had a great time and then back to the hotel. Went back into the parks for just a bit and then back to the hotel where the Easter baskets I had ordered were waiting in the closet. The teenagers got back a little after midnight and we were up the next morning(Easter Morning and our 6th wedding anniversary) to meet up with our Wildomar friends for the day in the parks. Had breakfast at La Brea bakery and that was really good! First ride of the morning was Star Tours and when we came out it was 10:15 and Jedi Training was getting started at 10:30 so we rushed Riley over and he and Bill got in the front row. This was his first ever time to see it and he was wanting so badly to get picked but we had not made a sign so I wasn't sure of his chances but he got picked! You should have seen the smile on that kid! He battled Darth Maul and unfortunately Bill hit the wrong button on the camera and missed it all! UGH! Oh well, he got his certificate and that just made his day! First time trying it and he got it!! Big brother then decided that he needed to comemorate the occasion and bought him a Jedi costume, Jedi Robe and another light saber(green this time and he has 4 others at home LOL) Riley was on Cloud 9! Riley is not a big roller coaster fan but loves the Matterhorn so we went on that and the lines were not bad at all. About midday we headed back to the hotel because it was really warming up and did some more swimming and video games in the arcade. Met back up with our friends in DCA and had dinner at the Wine Country Trattoria. Again, excellent service, excellent food and wine and just a nice relaxing time. Need to go handle some more laundry so I will finish up in a bit. The bummer about vacations is the laundry load at the end! LOL
