Does anyone have a suggestion for a good, reliable web-hosting service? I've been using iPowerWeb, but they are having major problems keeping up with load on their servers, which has been causing some long access delays for my site. The only thing I've been able to get out of their support department are vague promises that they are going to upgrade their servers, but I get all kinds of evasion when I ask how long that is going to take.

I mainly use my hosting for 2 WordPress blogs, which means that I need a service that includes MySQL and PHP support. I also need a service that allows subdomain mapping. Email is less of a concern as I use a good IMAP email service and just set up forwarding rules to that.

Anyone have a service that you are happy with?

I ditched iPowerWeb a year or so ago for Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com/r.cgi?307815) and have been very happy with them. Their Web-based control panel can seemingly do anything. One account includes unlimited virtual hosts, which means I've been able to consolidate all my various projects under one account. You also get unlimited email addresses and aliases, some large amount of bandwidth and disk space (which I haven't come close enough to exceeding to note where the actual limit is) and very responsive support.

I should note that they had a pretty major billing screw-up (http://consumerist.com/search/dreamhost/) a few months ago, where many customers (not all, and not me) had their contracts erroneously renewed and charged--but the company immediately owned up to its mistake and refunded not only the erroneous charges but any NSF or bounced check fees their users incurred as a result. Mistakes happen, but I'm more concerned with how a company deals with the problem and I'm pretty satisfied with how they handled it.

Second vote for Dreamhost.

Thanks for the tips. Dreamhost looks like a good deal as far as price and features, so that looks like a good choice. I actually remember reading about the whole billing issue and reacting at the time that they had done a really good job of taking a bad situation and handling it well enough to turn it into something of a positive for them.

I probably will look into switching over to it at some point this weekend.

I did switch over to Dreamhost this weekend and am happy with it so far. The transfer was fairly painless and it does seem to be a very feature-rich service. Most importantly, my site now loads pretty much instantaneously.
