Many thanks for your reponse to my question re: Kitchen Sink.
Now I need some recommendations for vegetarian eating in WDW. My family are enthusiastic meat eaters but son's girlfriend (1st time out of Europe) is a veggie. She likes vege burgers but I can't let her eat them for 2 weeks!
We will be using counter and full service places but going easy on the wallet!

Most places have an option - some better than others. For the table service, ASK. Sometimes they do have 'off menu' items that they can do veggie.

The ratatouille stuffed pepper at 50s Prime Time was enjoyed by my non-vegetarian sister - and the only time we had a real issue when I was there with a vegetarian sister for a week was during one of the after-hours parties. But she does eat fish/shrimp. And I don't think she ate a garden burger the whole trip (though I could be wrong). One time we were eating at Pecos Bills and either didn't notice a veggie option on the menu, or it was a veggie burger she wasn't interested in, but it was right at the end of the Thanksgiving crowds, so Pirate and Parrot was open and we got her a bean burrito from there and met up with the others.

The only restaurant we had considered on that trip that we saved for a later one was Ohana - the 'appeal' of that restaurant really is the unlimited meat skewers - and although a vegetarian wouldn't starve there (particularly if they like shrimp), I think it would be a tougher restaurant to deal with.

If she is a full-out vegan, though (no milk or cheese) you might have a tougher time of it.

Check out the menus here and see if you see 'good options' for the restaurants you're considering!

All Ears has a bunch of info on eating Veggie in WDW. Go here to the Specia lDietary Needs (http://allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm) page, towards the bottom of the info there are more links to other articles and such.

My vegetarian friend who frequents WDW says that any table service place should be able to make you something. Mention it when you make a reservation, or mention it to the waiter when you are seated, especially if she doesn't see anything on the menu that seems to appeal to her.

You can check out the MousePlanet dining guide for listings of menus at various places. Here's a link to the main page (http://www.mouseplanet.com/misc.php?pg=wdw_dining).

Our son is a vegetarian and if call the morning of your meal they all have a veggie meal op., the ones at Ohana & WCC were great.

hi there, both DH and I are vege and we had ten days at wdw earlier this year. we found the food situation challenging, but not impossible. At MK, our favorite place was columbia harbour house, where they had really good vege chilli and a couple of different vege sandwiches. everywhere else it was basically vege burgers and they get old VERY quickly; we did appreciate the fact that you can get apple slices instead of fries - it makes a big difference. At Epcot, chefs de france had really really good salads, and the soup was vegetarian and delicious. We also liked the vege options at the french bakery - vege quiche, salads and, if she eats cheese, the cheese plate was fabulous. We also loved the salad and the vegetable curry at the restaurant in Britain. At AK the vege burgers at restaurantasaurus were head and shoulders better than anywhere else because of the salad bar - much better options than any of the other places we tried. the vege enchiladas at whispering canyon (WL) were really yummy and hugely filling. at HS, we enjoyed the salads and flatbreads at Mama Melrose. It is true that everywhere had at least one vegetarian option but if you don't like or can't eat something in that one offering it can be very difficult; for instance, we had enormous problems one day at HS looking for a counter-meal that didn't involve raw carrot (to which I am allergic) - we went to 4 places before we found a CM who made me a salad without carrot.

good luck!

Be glad she likes vegie burgers because they are the one ever-present vegetarian item. At most places they have them even if they aren't on the menu.

Here are some of our favorites:

The buffet at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is great for vegetarians (and meat eaters too I think). It has a great variety of really good dishes.

Another vote for Columbia Harbour House in MK, love the hummus sandwich and veg chili.

The baked mac 'n cheese at Chefs de France is great.

I really like the mango tofu dish at Sci-Fi dine-in.

There are a couple of good options at San Angel Inn in Epcot.

She may get tired of pizza and vegie burgers, but there really are some other really good options if you look for them. And as others have said, don't be shy about asking at the different restaurants (counter service and table service), often they have something they can easily make up that's not on the menu.
