This is from my myspace blog, but I thought I'd post it here:
We woke up at about 5:30 Wednesday morning to head up to Anaheim, as we were leaving the floor guys arrived, while we were gone they would be tearing out our old flooring and putting in our new "wood" flooring. We dropped off our truck on the way out (ended up needing almost $800 of work done) and set off, Jason, Hendrix and I plus the 9 Developmentally Disabled adults we care for up the 5 towards the Happiest Place on Earth...Disneyland!
We pulled into the Disneyland Hotel, I went and got us checked in, Jason got the gang out of the van and to the bathroom, one of our girls had already totally wet her pants, through the diaper...soaked. Ok, Jason goes back to the van, gets her tomorrows clothes, do a quick change, pick up our 2 rental wheelchairs and we are off like a herd of turtles to board the Monorail in Downtown Disney.
We disembark the the Monorail and walk into Tomorrowland, Jason and I decide to begin in ToonTown, we did all the rides and went to visit Mickey in his house, stopping of course at the bathrooms before leaving Toon Town. From ToonTown we hit the Matterhorn, taking a wild alpine ride on it's famous Bobsleds. The group is now hungry, we make the trek to the other side of the park to have lunch at Critter Country, after lunch and yet another bathroom run we hit, the Pooh ride, Pirates of the Caribbean, the beautiful old river boat, The Mark Twain and one of my personal faves, Big Thunder.
After the requisite bathroom run, we tear through the rides in Fantasyland, these are old and non-accessible, so you just go in through the exit and totally avoid the line...by now everyone is starting to get a little tired, we head into Tomorrowland and do Buzz Lightyear's Astro blasters, then stake out 2 benches to see the parade from. Jason takes most of the group to do Star Tours, and a few of the girls and I held the benches. After another round of bathroom trips from the benches we enjoyed the Parade, it was fabulous of course Mickey & Minnie were on the last float, everyone enjoyed the parade so much and was so excited to see the characters from all their favorite Disney stories.
We caught the Monorail back to Downtown Disney, I had figured on getting dinner at the Rainforest Cafe, but when we arrived there was a 1 hour wait, I had way too many tired, cold, grumpy people to wait that long, we trudged back to the hotel, I went and picked up keys to our other 2 rooms and Jason took the gang upstairs to chill. After realizing we were out of dinner options it was Broadway Pizza to the rescue, sandwiches, sodas, fish & chips, chicken dinners and pizza were delivered and all was right with the world again, barring the minor run-in I had with security, everyone was fed, cleaned, diapered, medicated and in bed by about 11pm...glow in the dark tinkerbell wall paper glistening I'm sure everyone had very sweet dreams.
I got up around 7, after the dinner fiasco I had decided Jason would do a McDonalds run for breakfast egg McMuffins in the room would be quick and easy, so while I was getting everyone up dressed and ready, Jason picked up the breakfast. When he arrived they had doubled our McMuffin order, a quick call to the Bell desk took care of that, the Bell Boys all got to start there day with McMuffins too! We packed the van, checked out and walked through Downtown Disney to Disney's California Adventure.
Hindsight being 20/20 2 big days in a row is a little much for the gang, and honestly, I will never do it again, one day is plenty. We started at my favorite ride Soarin over California, then it was off to Muppetvision 3-D, Monsters Inc and the Aladdin show at the Hyperion Theater, it is an about 45 minute, live action "Broadway" type show, it is amazing! This is when we started breaking down, Jason took the brave ones on the Tower of terror, the whining began to set in, we stopped for lunch, hoping moral would improve, it really did not. We went to the Paradise Pier section, the girls were starting to refuse to ride the rides, we took a group vote and aborted the mission, only 1 hour before close though. We walked through DownTown Disney, I took everyone in 2 at a time to do their souvenir shopping. After a final bathroom stop, we loaded up the van and headed home...
To our surprise, we arrived home to find the flooring guys still here, we had had a late lunch, at 3, and with everyones moods, stopping for dinner would have been a mistake, the plan was to come home, sit at the table, eat a lite snack, have medicine, brush teeth and go to bed, but that was not to be.
After tears and fighting in the van, we had to get everyone in the house through back doors and side doors, the floor was not done and we could not walk through the house, we took everyone snacks and meds to their rooms, they skipped teeth and we had everyone in bed in about 45 minutes, meanwhile I got soda's and snacks for the floor guys, then I was off to bed, I went to sleep around 11, they were still here, Jason at 12, still here, I woke up at 4am, they were gone.
Here is my myspace page, I have Disney pics in my album there:
