Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone will be working "Knotts Scarry Farm-Halloween Haunt"?
Or even if anyone will be going to Knotts for that specific reason? I will be working Knotts Scarry Farm this year and I am very excited to do so. I would love to know if anyone else be doing the same. Thanks!

-Jarod

I've never been, and, I won't be working it.

I am too scared!! Tell me. Is it really scary? I hate the idea of
having the bejezzus scared out of me, not knowing where to turn and what will pop out.

Has anyone ever suffered from being scared 'nearly' to death?

And, how does the park control the pranksters who take it upon themselves to scare to other guests?

Maybe you know the answers, or, maybe someone else here will? Thanks!!

The question to ask you is will you be working as talent??? If you get to be one of the monsters in the maze you will have a blast. Scarrying someone is the best free drug in the world. I worked ther 89-91 and was going to try to go back this year but all the talent job were taken. I must stress this every park in the US tryes to copy knotts with what they have accomplished and the fail. Look at USH a movie studio no less, with props and movie making ability lasted 3 years and they gave up.

They have started construstion early this year and i have high hopes for a great haunt I'll be going on the first night.

Guests are not allowed to wear costumes of any sort. And yes this thing is scary. It is not meant for kids. When I went I refused to look up, I walked with my head down, trailing at the end of a large group of friends. This was WRONG! When the gates opened most people headed towards the ghost town area, we went towards Camp Snoopy. The Scare'ers are wearing hideous masks and torn up clothing (for the most part), and they shake their noise makers in the faces of any guest who is not looking their way. One guy decided that he would keep after me until I looked him in the eye. He backed me into a fence and slid on his hands and knees until he was actually holding on to my feet (and no, they aren't supposed to touch guests).

The main attractions are the mazes, walking through dark places, waiting for things to jump out at you is not my idea of a good time.

By hiring people who are so much better at it than the punk idiots who try on their own. You'll see a few jerks messing with people...right up to the point they get chased down by a guy in a far too convincing costume having the poop scared of them. That usually shuts them up :D

When I went I refused to look up, I walked with my head down, trailing at the end of a large group of friends. This was WRONG!SO true. The 'performers' THRIVE on people like that. The best thing to do is to look confident. Never show your fear or you're doomed. I too hate being startled, but the quality of the atmosphere that Knott's puts together keeps bringing me back. And each time I get better at making them think I've got nerves of steel. Keep your head up and watch know your surroundings. Then you just get to enjoy watching other people get scared half to death. Now THAT'S fun.

I am not talent, I forgot my title.

But I am the guy that protects the monsters from the idiot punks that get so scared they feel they need to beat up the monsters. Who really are not monsters but MY FRIENDS in disguise.

My first year working and I dont mind not being talent.

However yes if you are going as a guest, plan to be freightened alot! But also as stated before if you dont want to be chased or anything. Just walk around very confidently!

It worked for me when I went last year by myself every Thursday night. I had a blast! I actually encourage people to go if they have never been before!

Sorry, but that is funny.

Of course not them being beat up, but a person losing all sense of reality and thinking they need to 'beat up' the monster.

Have you ever found people do it pretending to be scared? That would scare me if I were in a costume. Or someone losing their mind and trying to kill the monster. News @ 11.

Sounds like a good strategy for MouseAdventure too. :D :D

It is scary but fun. It's neat to see how creative these people are with their theming of each haunted house. Each one is unique in its own way. I love going.

The talent does not scare people like they used to. Before they could actually touch guests. I remember that in '89, now they're not allowed...

Thats right Im a black out! Oh yeah my friend was a black out last year and she got converted to talent. So I am definetly hoping that it will happen to me as well. All my friends are in the same maze as I am, so I think I will have a shot at it.

Well thank my lucky stars for that!!!

I think I would die if someone touched me!!

The feeling of thinking someone is going to touch me makes the hair stand up on my scalp and my nerves be at attention!!

Like taking a night walk in Yosemite...........Blair Witch movie runs through mind as well as movies where mountain lions and bears rip up innocent campers!!! Agh!!

Yes once again I will be lurking in them Alabama backwoods...beware or I might eatcha!

And remember:
Don't scream intentionally, directly into our ears
Don't ask me to scare your friend
Don't ask how much they pay me to scare you
Don't shove your glowstick/light thingie it my face
Don't punch me or your night will come to an abrupt ending.
Don't use your girlfriend as a humanshield from us
Don't bring your 5 year olds
Don't use your camera flash as a defense mechanism
If you ask us not to scare you, it will only get worse...

Most of all:
Don't forget to have a good time. The monsters love you.

I went once, its so scary! I am going this year with Erica and her bf and some other friends.

Last year erica went with her bf and they were stopped. And she leaned back to rest on her bf...or what she thought was her bf. She was there for about 5 minutes until she noticed her bf about 3 feet to her right side. She was leaning on a monster! scared the bejezzures out of her.

I will be working as a talent in the Mine train themed ride for Haunt. This will be my first year.

MouseWife

That reminds me of going after the Haunt and seeing some things that were not removed.

In the dinosaur ride, I saw a scary face stuck in their ice age {I think it was}. Cracked me up.

Now, I could be wrong. It could be part of the permanent ride but I hadn't noticed it prior.

The Mine Ride? Sounds like you will have a lot of fun!!!

Okay, does anyone know about the 'Oxygen Bar'? It was there last year at the Halloween Haunt. I am curious about it.

The frozen head has always been there. The Oxygen Bar lets you breathe flavored oxygen. I gives you a natural hight and you get to keep the nose thingies! They have Oxygen bars all over the place. I saw a couple in Vegas not too long ago...

MouseWife

Thanks for the response!!

Flavored oxygen? {when I went it was closed, Camp Spooky :) }
Now, have you done it? Do you get a certain amount of time for your money? Or, does the 'tank' have a gauge on it to say how much you have used?

I mean, compared to a cup of coffee, can you enjoy it leisurely, or is it pay, BAM and good-bye?

Thanks for your input!! This question has been posed before but no one could answer it. {unless I missed it and then sorry!}

My friend did it last year, he said it made him really, really hyper. I guess it because it is fresh pure air you are getting.

We just noticed an Oxy bar in the middle of our local mall...
I live in hicksville... the West Coast version of Nashville, and we have a blooming oxy bar in the dinky redneck mall!!!

I was too busy laughing at the odd looks it was getting in inquire about the price.

I just got through reading about the shows for the Halloween Haunt this year, and there is no mention of Elvira being out there. Is she sitting it out this year? My friend was really looking forward to seeing her. ;)

Last year was her 15th or 20th year, but it was also her last. Right now and for the rest of the year she will be out promoting her new movie "Haunted Hills". After that, she is retiring forever. I am also sad that she is not returning but I know a lot of people disliked her @ Halloween Haunt.

I love ElVIRA she is the true DIVA of Halloween! Since last year I have seen her promoting her new movie at the venues I go to. I believe her movie is due to be released this onctober on video and DVD! Im excited. Last year at Haunt I heard
she fell off the stage! Well people make mistakes and it is very hard to be glamorous like she is all the time!

To ELVIRA the great DIVA of Halloowen!

Yep, no Elvira or Crypt Keeper this year (or likely ever again). But we will have 11 mazes/rides and Ed Alonso in the Ghoul Time Theater. Don't miss it.

See you in the Bayou!
