We will be at the Disneyland Hotel on Saturday for our first ever stay at the hotel.... Any hints, tips, hidden or must-see areas of the hotel to enhance our stay?

Thanks everyone

Yes, sixth floor or higher, but it isn't called the Sierra Tower anymore -- is it Dreams Tower?

Walk around the grounds, don't miss the waterfalls.

- Definitely take a walk through the waterfalls if they're open!
- The Pixie Dust border around the top of the walls in your room glows in the dark!
- They have feedings of the koi fish in the ponds near the waterfalls.
- Take some time to play with the remote controlled Jungle Cruise boats- steer the boats through different places and watch what effects happen!

Have a great trip! :D

Ok maybe I'm weired, but the laundry room at 5am with a good book and a drink of your choice (don't forget the washing). I spent several mornings there in October, it is so peaceful, honestly it was one of the highlites of the trip.:fez:

If you decide to sit outside with your muffin and coffee in the morning, guard the muffin closely. At first, you'll notice one or two finches that seem very interested in your muffin and bold enough to land on your table or chair. Give it a few minutes, and suddenly, you're surrounded.

Luckily, they're cute and I've had them actually steal any food out of my hands. :)

I love the little finches!!! In DL we always sit at Tomorrowland terrace and feed them. Yes, its bad to feed wildlife, but if they'll take it out of my hand are they really wild?

how much does it cost to do the jungle cruise boats? We are going to downtown disney and I would like to come over to the hotel if and have my daughter and her cousins play with those if they aren't too pricey.

Also, I would say try to have a meal at goofy's kitchen. Expensive, but the buffet is excellent and they atmosphere very fun.

Is there a coffee shop close by to grab a coffee and a muffin in the mornings?

Yes... I don't know how I am going to be able to walk past Goofy's every morning and NOT go in every day!!!

I have put the waterfalls and Koi pond on my list. Those Jungle Cruise boats look so cute!

Does anyone know how late the pool is open? Or where I can get a map/layout of the hotel? I know they will give me something when I get there but I just want to know everything so I dont' waste a single moment when I get there!

Oh ya, can anyone ride the glass elevator or do we actually have to be in that tower?

We are going for a convention, so I am assuming those rooms aren't going to be the best, the biggest or have the best view... but we are just happy to be there!

At the Disneyland Hotel there is The Coffee House, where you can get your early morning coffee and pastries. It's located not far from the Neverland Pool. I'm not sure about now, but I know in the past this place opened at 6:00 a.m. and usually stayed open until around midnight or so.

If you are walking through DtD to get to Disneyland, you also have the option of getting your coffee fix at The Compass Cafe or La Brea Bakery Express.

Does anyone know how late the pool is open?

I am by no means the authority on this, but as far as I know the Neverland Pool is open from 9:00 a.m to 10:00 p.m. The water slide tends to close earlier than the rest of the pool, as well. The quiet pool at the DLH is typically closed even earlier, I think around 7:00 p.m or so. Again, I think that these are the correct hours, but I'm not positive how accuracte I am, so I would say that your best bet would be to call the hotel directly and ask.

Or where I can get a map/layout of the hotel?

Here is a link (http://www.mouseplanet.com/dtp/maps/dl_resorts/DLH&DLPH_map.htm) to a map that I found here on Mouseplanet and here is a link (http://www.themouseforless.com/tripplanning/dlmaps.shtml) to a website that has a slightly different version of the map. Note that both of these maps are slightly out-dated (notice the difference in the names of the towers and in Granville's Steakhouse) but they'll give you a great idea of how things are layed out. FYI, the Sierra Tower is now known as the Dreams Tower; the Marina Tower is now known as the Magic Tower; and the Bonita Tower is now known as the Wonder Tower.

The glass elevator is for Concierge Guests only - you need a key.

Sometimes the characters hang out in the lobby of the Marina/Magic Tower in the mornings/afternoons. I have seen Mickey and Goofy there many times.

Ask for a wake-up call from Mickey.

Don't forget to use your Early Entry (or is it now Magic Mornings?) to the parks.

If you or your little ones are too tired to watch the fireworks from the park at night, many rooms in the Marina/Magic tower (facing the parkinglot) and the Sierra Tower have good views of the show. The music is broadcast on your TV in your room, so it's almost like a private show, with no walk through the crowds afterwards.

There are pathways around the waterfalls on two levels.

Have a wonderful time!

It might be a little late, but I want to add:

The rooms with 2 queens seem to be larger than the king room

Ask about being upgraded. Never hurts, we have been accomodated every time.

Thank you. Yes, there are 2 adults and 2 15 year olds and a 12 year old in our party. I have requested a 2-Queen room with a Daybed. Let's hope they are able to acommodate us.... as I have read horror stories that they put you in a cramped 2 queen room and bring in a cot....

$2 for I think about five minutes. You have to bring eight quarters to get a token for each use, so basically bring a lot of quarter. Also, if you put in five or ten dollars worth at once, you get a longer time period for your money. Take the boats around the pond and under the tunnels for to see different things happen. We were endlessly awaiting check-in and my nephew was delighted to be there for 45 minutes--could have stayed longer.
