Does anyone else remember when they had a televised Easter parade from Disney World? Why did they discontinue it? It always put me in the mood for another vacation in the Spring. It was very cute.

View Full Version : Easter Parade from WDW on TV Wiggler 03-23-2008, 03:13 PM Does anyone else remember when they had a televised Easter parade from Disney World? Why did they discontinue it? It always put me in the mood for another vacation in the Spring. It was very cute. promisemewings 03-23-2008, 09:34 PM I remember the Easter Parade as well. That was something I always looked forward to as a kid! (I tend to like Easter better than Christmas; I don't know why this is.) I, too, would like to know why they quit doing it. Finz729 03-24-2008, 06:34 AM Me three! I'm glad I'm not crazy (well, on this subject.) I was checking the guide all morning, sure I just wasn't seeing it. Then again, I don't remember the last time I did see it so it may have been some time ago. But do recall there being an annual Disney Easter parade on television Easter morning. Maybe they decided Easter was too religious, even with fluffy white bunnies and eggs, etc. Who knows . . . ? Or maybe ABC figured there aren't enough people at home watching tv on Easter morning to make it worthwhile. Churches do seem somehow more full that one morning of the year - well, that and Mother's Day. carolinakid 03-24-2008, 01:41 PM I tend to agree that maybe the religious angle was just too strong for some. I'm actually surprised the Christmas parade hasn't been renamed yet as the WDW Happy Holidays Parade. spectromen 03-27-2008, 08:14 AM I was told by a current WDW parade cast member that it was discontinued in either 1998 or 1999. The float chassis have been reused and the shells are long gone. I guess nowadays they add a couple easterized units to the day parade, but nothing for television. |
