Hey all,
We're about 25 days until lift off. We'll be flying into Anaheim and we'll be there for five days. Now that my dad will be coming with us, we'll have to be a little more careful. In 2006 he had some pretty severe intestinal surgery and requires a cane to walk, but even after walking a hundred feet he gets VERY winded, and it hurts to go over potholes (so no Indiana Jones). So we've decided that we'll need to get him a wheel chair for going around the park.
Now the questions. How much does it cost, per day, to get one? Will we need to show proof of his disability to get one? How does the line work for somebody in a wheel chair? If we want to go between DLR and DCA will he have to turn in the DLR chair and exchange it for a DLR one?

-Thanks

Hi :) I found this on a discussion board, maybe it will help. You could probably call Disneyland guest relations and they will have answers to your q's...their number is: (714) 781-7290

You should consider doing a trip report so we can all hear about your trip to the land! :) Have fun!

Pros
Rentable chairs for disabled, good staff, nice place to go.

Cons
Expensive! Hard to navigate for disabled at times.

Hi there, one more thing, I found a link on this board, it was about wheelchair info. Adrienne K said that you can take the wheelchair from park to park, just not outside of the esplenade. Also, Malcon gave some info about a company in the area that rents the power sccoters, there were rave reviews about this place...maybe you can look into it :)

Deckert's number is (714) 542-5607

How much does it cost, per day, to get one?
$10 per day plus a $20 deposit.
Will we need to show proof of his disability to get one? No
How does the line work for somebody in a wheel chair? If the person in the chair is going on the ride, you will use the HA entrance. You can find more info here.

If we want to go between DLR and DCA will he have to turn in the DLR chair and exchange it for a DLR one?No, you just can't go past the bag check tents with the chair.

We have used Deckert's surgical - it was a great deal. It was very nice to have the ECV delivered to our hotel room...I had use of it going to and from disneyland as well as in the parks, and in Downtown Disney. Much better than just renting it from the parks. For a short term rental (a couple of days) the price is quite comparable to renting at the parks, and for longer term, it's cheaper!

What she said! I would have posted those exact same words, were I as eloquent as annieb!

I have to agree with the above posts re: Deckert's. I rented for 13 days at Christmas, they were GREAT. I will be renting from them again!
