I am looking for anyone who has gone to the water parks in december. Is it worth upgrading park tickets to cover this or not.

My 2 cents is that it is not worth going to the WP's in December. Unless the weather gets warmer than normal while you are there, it may just be too cool to enjoy them. Yes, the water is heated, but it is the breeze and ambient temp that will chill you when you get out.

Your mileage may vary, though...

Where are you from? I haven't been to WDW in December but my BF went Dec 2007 and visited the water park that was open and said it was fine, but I understand the weather was good for December the couple of weeks before xmas last year. We live in England though. Today it is -1 centigrade and my son and his BF have been playing footie outside in just joggers and T-shirts after they'd run around for 10 mins, so I guess we're used to it fairly chilly. We went Easter 2007 when some of the days were much cooler than expected but my children were happy in the hotel pool every day, even when it had chilled everyone else out!

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have filters, pumps or heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

But, as far as upgrading tickets, if you are only planning to have one water park day you are much better off purchasing separate water park tickets.

If you buy the Water Parks Fun and More option to your MYW ticket it will cost $53.25 (including tax) per person, adult or child. It will add one WPF&M entry per day on the base or hopper ticket (but two entries on a one day ticket).

If you purchase one day water park tickets they cost $41.54 adult and $35.15 child.

This upgrade may be done at any Park (including water parks or TTC) ticket booth or Guest Relations Office. If it is on your room key it can also be done at the Resort Lobby Concierge.

(Note each person must have their own ticket. Even though it adds multiple entries to your ticket, you can only use one ticket for one person.)
