To be honest, some of the best fries I had on property was where they were serving McDonalds fries. Got some at Studios one time as a snack and they were crisp, hot, and perfectly salted.

... And there are different side carts at each park that serve McD's fries.

Some folks would say that the end of the world started when Disney started selling McD's fries in the parks. But as long as they don't try to put golden arches over Main Street, I don't have a problem. And I agree - McD's does know how to make fries!

I like the ones at Cosmic Ray's and at Casey's--but yes, McD's are excellent....

Bleh, I disagree! I think the regular Disney fries are way better than the Mickey D's! Any counter service place sells good fries. I also don't like the ones at Casey's Corner because they are the skinny fries. I prefer thicker fries myself. I love getting them at Pecos Bill's or Cosmic Ray's, and Pinocchio Village Haus has the great Figaro Fries, topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and dressing (I always ask for no tomato or dressing).

It depends on whether you like thin fries or thick ones better.

Note about Figaro Fries: Yes, they're good. A heart attack on a plate. BUT they put SO much cheese sauce on there that it is GROSS. I ask for just a light amount of cheese or else it is just a pool of processed orange goop.

And--I LOVE the skinny fries at Casey's! To me, that's what makes them great. Come to think of it, just about any non-seasoned (I hate that seasoned crud) fry is good! :p

my favorite friens are the "chips" at the United Kingdom counter service in Epcot. i know they are a little thick and considered steak fries, but they are amazing. salty, hot and taste like potatoes.

McDonald's fries used to be so much better back in the day. It used to be that they would taste good, even cold! Now, while they are still great hot, a few minutes later they become rigid and mealy. Don't know what the change was, but I solve the problem by scarfing them down as fast as possible so they don't get cold! :D

It's the oil that they are cooked in.

They used to use a shortening mix that had some lard in it.
Sounds icky, but those were the good fries that you remember.
They changed to a different shortening and it is truly vile.

It was also the heavy coating of salt that they'd give 'em. Very tasty!

Ah, thanks. But I guess it's just as well; being a vegetarian now, I couldn't eat the lard-fried fries. Ah well, memories!
